I am coming over in the summer (July/August) for about four weeks and was wondering if anyone had a spare car or one they re not usingthat they wish to rent out for 3 or four weeks at a reasonable cost. I would obviously expect that it was covered by insurance for another driver.

Please get back to me if this might be of interest.

I think all insurance in TRNC is for any driver, as long as the owner is in TRNC, When I come to UK I leave car and a permission to drive with friends.

TRNC insurance wouldn't cover you - only official hire car insurance covers "hire & reward"...

yes silvefox I have two or three car's doing nowt in July and Augs and thats where they will be in the garage so I do not come back to damaged car and speeding fines. Go and hire a car for £14 per day it's cheaper then U.K.

As usual the thread has gone off line but thanks for all the input (Thanks the cat). I am not tight just looking for economical alternatives because spending three months a year in TRNC I am spending thousands of pounds into the economy and for instance I have always flown into Ercan which not all the corresponants do.

As I said I was just looking at an alternative having spent thousands over the last 4 years on car hire. I would be grateful if Mitsybrian could let me know where I can hire a vehicle for £14 per day in the high season as I will definately look at it.

If you come out that often, why not buy yourself a cheapish run around, you can get one for about £1000-£1500. Then it will always be here when you come out.

It will pay for it self with in the year, if you are coming out 3 times a year for 4 weeks each time.

Thanks for the idea Angela which seems quite good but when you add £500+ for car tax and the cost of insurance the total cost would be around 2k+, which is substantial for only three months at atime . (Unless of course I could hire it out for the nine months I am not there!).

I cant find Green Garage on the net but if someone could let me know where they are I will try and contact them for a quote.

Thanks All

Hi

I personally would not recommend Green garage. Try Bird or Dark &Blue, A One, they will all negotiate a deal.

Why dont people get together and buy a car. I am only coming out in the winter months and would happily go in with anyone and share a car with someone who wanted the summer months

Hi Gottheyips.

I would want the car from 21/7 for about three weeks. I can provide references if required.

I did this once and it cost us £700 in repairs after....NEVER EVER AGAIN!

You would be better to ask all the Hire companies and explain you would be hiring for 3 months a Year they are pretty good and normally do 'deals' for long rentals.

OR

Buy yourself a cheap runaround, as said before it pays for its self in a year or so.

Good Luck!
