not very experienced with dogs but mine has started sneezing this last couple of days & one of it's eyes looks like it has a slight cold in it.

Is it normal or anything to worry about ?

Do dogs catch colds & will it pass in time ?

Dog seems pretty happy overall.

Hi Jimmy,

I used to have a westie that did this, I think something is irritating the dog. Perhaps plants or have you changed its food. We eventually found that the westie did this when he had been to visit my mother in law with us. She was a very heavy smoker and the dog was affected by this. Also aerosol sprays can do this and flea sprays.

My cats seem to get hayfever at about the same time as I do - i.e. NOW! - don't know if dogs get it, Louthlass might know...

lol @ 8

hayfever would actually fit quite well as there are loads of flowers in the garden at the mo.

either that or i'll have to stop putting pepper on its steaks

my dog had similar symptoms after it had been bitten by sandfly. Take your dog immediately for a blood test. My dog did not survive. Good luck Craig. Ignore the stupid answers, it could be very serious.

hi it is most likely to be hayfever as others have said. You could give it a low dose of anti histamine - my dog always needs them at this time of year.

Our dog had this problem recently and it was a grass seed but you should get it checked out by a vet. Good luck.

Our dog is sneezing and wheezing and yes it is hayfever, get his some medication from the chemist but ring the vet just to be sure.

I would just give him a normal anti-histamine that you use for humans. I give our dog a Piriton and she is right as rain in no time. One tab is usually enough.

Take your pooch to the Vet immediately is my suggestion - my darling poochie (not with me any more) had a grass seed up her nostril - cause her real probs, she was really suffering - yet very easy for the Vet to remove

Hi Jimmy, one of our dogs gets hayfever and gets an allergic reaction on her belly from certain grasses. Recommend you give Chlorpheniramine 4mg tablets at try. Start with one in the morning and increase to twice daily if needed. Depending on size of dog you could go up to 4 tablets daily in divided doses. Ours was on another tablet prescribed by vet but when we ran out a nice vet not out to make money said this would do the trick and it has. It's not expensive either. Fingers crossed it works for your dog
