Good, perhaps we may be able to watch our national teams without having to fork out another £14 a month on top of the Sky Sports subscriptions!

Hi Twaddle

you MAY have a point but do we need one company having a monopoly ?

If Setanta DO go under SKY might be the only company that can take up the slack.. but will the football teams survive that are owed dosh

What of the folk who paid for Setanta ! ?

Hi Mark, I also heard the same from my brother-in-law. He says the EU will have something to say about it as it was they that enforced the sale of the option in the first place.

I won't shed a tear.

I have resolutely avoided any pay-per-view service, be it Setanta, Sky, or whoever.

I get loads of freeview sports, or even the Champions Final from Rome (with a Turkish Commentary).

I watched the Grand Prix's, French Open etc etc.

I don't want to pay to watch 'Snowboarding' or other rubbish sports.

The time has come for sport to be available, and financially viable, via free to air again. That will ultimately help the clubs as well as the viewers.

IT IS ABOUT TIME REGARDLESS OF COSTS AND FINANCIAL DEALS THAT EVERYONE SHOULD BE ABLE TO WATCH THEIR NATIONAL TEAMS AT ALL SPORTS AS A MATTER OF RIGHT. TO LONG WE HAVE HAD TO SIGN UP TO THESE BIG BOY COMPANIES BLACKMAILING THE POOR ETC TO WATCH OUR NATIONAL TEAMS. THOSE TEAMS REPRESENT US AND I KNOW SPORT IS BIG BUISNESS BUT A NATIONAL TEAM IS DIFFERENT AND SHOULD BE MADE AVAILABLE TO THE MAN OR WOMAN IN THE STREET.

nottherevet,

You are assuming that we all want to watch football, or any sport come to that. I wish that I could withold part of my TV Licence that goes into the making of Match of the Day on the BBC, or any other sport on the BBC. I have no interest in this type of programme but am forced to pay whether I like them or not.

If the business of sport is to make money then let it be upto those who wish to watch pay for the privilege. If I want to see Man Utd play then I goto Old Trafford and pay an entrance fee or I pay a TV company to beam it into my home.

In fact let's take it one stage further....Only pay for the TV programmes you want to watch, a Pay-As-You-Watch system. Then maybe everyone will be happy. Then, also, we get the programmes we demand, not the ones that the TV companies think we want to watch.
