Is citronella available in northern Cyprus?

Does anyone know where i can get Citronella? i have asked in the local pharmacy but i just got blank looks.



I will also need a carrier oil.

Citronella Lamp oil is available from some supermarkets, e.g. Erdener. Also Citronella 'tea lights' and candles.

Citronella - based insect repellants are also available from quite a few supermarkets, and I find that they are just as effective - (for me, at any rate) - as DEET based ones.

If you are looking for Citronella essential oil for aromatherapy / massage, then you may have to try the South, unless anyone knows any better.

There uses to be a shop that did stock a few oils, opposite side of the road to the Savoy, but it has now closed down, and I've not seen any anywhere else.

If you're really stuck for a Carrier oil, Sunflower oil is a good standby, and you only have to raid the kitchen cupboard! - as long as you are not looking for any specific characteristics, of course.

I've got to go to Aydın pharmacy in Alsancak today, and she does stock a few 'alternative' products, so I'll ask her...

Anyone?

I am trying to make up insect repellant to rejuvenate citronella bracelets, We are near Alsancack so can call in the chemist there if necessary.

Aydin pharmacy do have it...I bought 2 bottles there last week.



11.81 YL for 30ml bottle.



Failing that the pharmacy by the small roundabout (opposite the big screen in Girne) have it......if he is out of stock he will order it for you.

I have just rang Hatice who owns the shop and she has two bottles left.

I have asked her to keep them for you.

The pharmacy next to Tempo - heading out toward Esentepe has citronella oil, they also speak very good english so they will knwo what you're talking about
