I would like to buy a water cooler dispenser but the ones I have looked at seem to be around the £120 mark. I know there are various models but this seems expensive - does anyone know where to purchase & what the average cost? I don't want to go to the south as I feel that I should buy local.

There seems to be very differing prices in some shops. I recently bought a water cooler from Elektrokur on the main roundbout in Girne. Pretty basic but hot and cold dispensers and a storage bit underneath 180TL. They had plain white and silver (these may be a bit more expensive). Very quiet compared to my last one and doesn't seem to be constantly cooling the water (like my last one). All in all, very satisfied and the lady in there is very helpful.

You need to go to Steptoe's Yard!!! Well thats what i call it!

Its off the road down to the new Harbour, take the left turn onto the rough road just past Emertas (bathroom shop) in front of you will be 2 blocks of flats, its underneath the block on the right, you cant missit as there is loads of stuff outside...i was in there last week and they had the silver floor standing coolers for 175TL and 150TL for a white one, all are new.

I'm puzzled as to how the atomised water doesn't increase the humidity once it's warmed up... as it surely must..

They do make you cool when the atomised cooled water is blown across you but what happens to the water vapour then? Does it make the rest of your gaff feel clammy?

The place down near the new Harbour is called Ucuzcu (= cheap-man). They have sign off to the left over an unmade section or road just before the new harbour entrance.

when purchasing always ask for the price in lira if they quote stg then 'they saw you coming' they are arround the 120/150TL mark. the ones with fridges underneath may be a little more expensive.

250TL for the larger model with a drinks fridge underneath. The label says 'Kelvinator' - believe it if you will

It really frees up the kitchen fridge though - very handy when you're dispensing drinkies...

Keith

Why would a rip-off merchant bother to reproduce a name like 'Kelvinator'?

When they could use 'Porche' instead?

Groucho,

well. Kelvinator have been on the go now for well over 50 years, and have a reputation for reliable, rugged kitchen appliances - unlike Porsche who make fancy cars driven by 'Twits'

Anyone who quotes in £, go out straight away. the currency of TRNC is TL

For a decent one pay about 180tl and always ask for indirim before agreeing a price. Most will give around 10% off marked price.
