Has anyone else lost receiption of some of their channels recently. We have lost BBC world & Fox movies. I thought may be the dish had moved in the wind but the MBC ones are still ok.

Hi Sunyday

BBC World is still on Nilesat - according to the BBC !

http://www.bbcchannelpartners.com/worldnews/satellite_map

Freq: 11766

Polarity: Horizontal

Symbol Rate : 27500

FEC: 5/6

If you still can't get it - having checked this - then your lnb - the bit on the front - might be effected - or the receiver's tuner is faulty.

The quickest way to find out is to borrow a friends nilesat receiver and see if it works - if not - then time to call a good satellite engineer...

BBC world & Fox movies still ok on mine - what signal strength, quality, and BER readings are you getting on those channels? - (and also on channels that are working ok, as a comparison) - if the figures for the 'missing' ones seem bad, then the dish may have moved very slightly.

The signal from the differnt transponders does vary in power, and sometimes one or more channels can be affected by a slight dish misalignment, leaving the stronger ones apparently unaffected.

If you do not normally disconnect your satellite box from the mains on a night (i.e. just leave it on 'standby') then it is worth 're-booting' the box - just unplug it from the mains, count to ten, and plug it back in.

If that doesn't work, try 're-scanning' the satellite (from within the setup menu) - it's worthwhile doing this now and then even if you don't have a problem, as it's surprising what you can find!

Keith.

Sunnyday. Have the same problem. Rang Digital Supreme yesterday and went through the settings with them. They tell me my dish has moved. i am not surprised with the winds we had early last week. Got up one morning and the table and umbrella were floating in the pool. They are coming to fix it on Friday.

I have also lost BBC World & Fox movies (everything else is still OK). Seems a bit of a coincidence.

mmmmmmmmmm

they did say Nilesat, so I was assuming FTA...

Make of receiver shouldn't make much difference

- And we ALL had the WIND in common (I blame it on a diet of beans )

Hi M6

I've got a next box. Info displayed is "no signal" S=68 Q=10

Don't really know what the Q value means, but that's obviously the problem as all the working channels have a Q value in 60's and 70's.

Further to my messages above i have a NEXT box and as stated now have the channels back. If the dish is out of line you would receive NO channels at all.

I have a Next box and if I loose a channel I go down to the satellite dish and move the LMB one degree clockwise or anti-clockwise and this always brings the lost channels back.Hubby cannot believe i'm such a clever bunny.

Just realised you meant the yellow button on the remote. If you didn't mean that - no problem I now have BBC World & Fox movies back. Thanks

we too lost fox movies, have followed advice, albeit slightly different method needed for dream box and hey presto, foxmovies back. thank you guys.

we did this.... go onto channel, press menu, go to setup, press ok, go to service searching, press ok, down to manual transponder scan, press ok, scroll down to start scan, press ok, wait.... scan will procede, when finished press okay and exit to go back to channels. hope this helps dream box users

Hi All

You may have missed it, but there have been messages broadcast on Nilesat warning that BBC World and Fox Movies would be changing frequency. Just do a re-tune and you will get them back . Worked for me !!

Regards

Paul
