Just found out today that my 76 (I think she is) year old mum was burgled on Saturday in Karsiyaka.

The theives, whom I have no doubt would not have dared try if my old mum had been in made of with a little cash.

Such pityful individuals really, and what really puts these kind of people into perspective are the proud people who have even less, yet if you dropped your wallet, they would run after you to give it back, their biggest fear being would you think they had taken something.

I guess some people are just beyond morals or even help.

no one should be afraid in their own homes. İts disgusting that it happens and i also agree nige, should they be caught, they should be punished harshly. Belongings can be replaced but fear of it happening again is hard to lose. İ for one know that if my home was broken into that it would take a very long time before i could sleep soundly at night. Hope your mum is ok.

Unfortunately this kind of news is becoming all too common out here. Let's all face it and invest in some decent door and window locks and use them. The standard fit items are no match for a determined little toe rag with a screw driver and if we forget to secure our properties then we make life easy for them. Gone are the days of leaving doors open and keys under the door mat, even in multi-cultural UK.
