Interesting post Aussie

This has always been the most viable solution. It just doesn't quite fit with the left wing European dream of Utopia, 'we will all live happily ever after' . It's a good dream to hold but it's often at odds with reality.

Think that dream is over ,post elections article,on the rise of right wing fringe etc in Europe.

2nd place in Holland!!!

"And they did not get elected in their respective countries because of their moderate approach to politics. Many are stridently anti-immigrant, others racist, some demanding restrictions against Muslims and Gypsies. They claim to be the real voices of the people--voters upset over the perceived destabilizing role of immigration, growing crime, and fearful for their own futures in the current economic crisis.

They did especially well in the Netherlands, Hungary, Denmark, Finland, Austria and Romania, with gains as well in Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and Slovakia.

Although many fringe parties trailed well behind mainstream parties, in the Netherlands the anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim party led by Geert Wilders came second. (Wilders is currently charged with promoting racial hatred.)

Hungary's quasi-fascist Jobbik Party won three seats.
