Does anyone know anything about air con units????

I turned mine on last night as it was unbearably hot and even though I have set it to 16 degrees on the cooler mode, the air con is not blowing out cold air. I have reset the unit and tried again but to no avail.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated!!

Hi Thinker

Call Nigel - he is great, search Aircon repair on this site.

Ours and 5 of our neighbours units are malfunctioning this week - just when the 3 year warranty is up. Nigel does a good deal on gas and service - hope yours is just that!

Hi Thinker,

I know someone who put their aircon on.

When I went to bed, found out that it was still on HEAT, from the winter months!

Reset mode to cool, all OK now.

If not sure which mode you're on, check user manual.

Or contact Nigel...

Take the batteries out and put them back in that should set it back to cool. Also, make sure you clean your filters every few months that makes a huge difference too!!

This place is Dodge City when it comes to legislation, Blinky. Everyone is still flogging R22 kit and the gas is readily available. There are still blokes with a stash of R12 keeping old kit going....

Hi Dave,

You can phone me on 0533 845 8494 any time or find me at Octopus Pools, near HSBC, during the week.

We do need to meet/speak and put a few ideas into action, maybe.

Fazo

Please put a posting on the " Citrus Gardens" thread on the service you offer re electric use we were discussing the other day. Please send me the info and I will pass to owners on my site and our sister sites. Thanks for all your help in the last couple of weeks.

I'm envious of all you multi millionaire's that can afford to switch on your A/C. A few beers and sleeping tablets and endure the heat pain!

Hi Fire Starter,

That's the easy bit which everyone should be doing for themselves at least twice a year.

However, do you know how to check the gas charge to see if you have enough refrigerant? Lack of refrigerant means your a/c will run (and burn electricity) but not do enough (if any) work, either cooling or heating.

If you could check the refrigerant level and it was low, would you know how much to put in to bring it up to the correct level?

If your answers to the above questions are "Yes", we may have some work for you....if they are "No", stick to filter banging and please leave the rest to them that know.
