Spent a day in Kusadasi last week. Really liked the place and would like to spend a few days there.

Does anyone know the best route to take from the trnc to Kusadasi - fly or ferry perhaps?

No1, Easiest way would be to fly direct from Ercan to Izmir, then take a bus down to Kusadasi. Bus journey takes about 90 minutes. Regular flights with Atlasjet, KTHY,and Pegasus.

Do try to visit Ephesus while you are there. Not sure when you are planning to go (and bearing in mind the heat) but it's only a short trip away from Kusadasi and well worth it. It's amazing!

Hi No1Doyen,

Izmir itself is worth a visit, as it is clean with wide streets and an excellent bazaar.

Thanks the butlers wife. We thought about combining the two resorts and perhaps spend about 2 in Izmir and 3 in Kusadasi.

When visiting Ephesus you should also visit Maryamana which is where The Virgin Mary is supposed to have lived after the death of christ, also in Selcuk which is the nearest town to Ephesus it has a wonderfull museum and also the The Temple of Artemis which is one of the ancient seven wonders of the world and also the supposed tomb of John the Baptist. Sirince which is outside Selcuk the other direction from Kusadasi is well worth a visit as it specialises in wines and lovely peaches and fruit.

Fasinating area, wonderfull market on a Saturday and Friday in Kusadasi.

On the drive from the Port to Ephesus we noticed a really nice beach and a couple of huge hotels. The guide told us they were 5 star.

Yes they are good hotels and 5 star, one is called the Sumelli Hotel and the other is the Richmond Hotel they do all inclusive holidays which are good value for money. The beach is called Pamucak and the hotels open onto the beach.

The hotels at the top of the hill going down towards Ephesus, Aqua Fantasy, Pine Bay etc. are more family aqau park type places.

When going to Ephesus visit the Gozleme Restaurant next door(any one can tell you how to get there or go by horse and trap) they serve the most wonderfull Gozleme and Ayran in the most relaxed and interesting setting, you can also visit the Tomb of the Seven Sleepers as it is a short walk up the hill from the Restaurant.

Thanks BeeBop. You obviously have very good knowledge of that area. We saw the Aqua Park and the Pine Bay resort on the way to Ephesus. The aqua park looked huge.

It certainly is a good day out with children but only for one day. It is a lovely area, Kusadasi is nice to visit but more pricey and touristy than Selcuk. The people are very friendly and helpfull and good places to eat. You can take the train from Selcuk to Izmir which is a bit long, the bus station in Selcuk runs buses to any destination in Turkey.

The area is a good base if you want to be away from too may tourists and take in the ancient sites and is not too expensive and over priced. Didem and Priene are also not too far away as is Pamukkale. There are also Spa hotels in the lacality if you want to take in the natural waters.

Very good Spa hotels also in Izmir and Cesme which is lovely also to visit lovely fish.

Hope this is helpfull.

Hi chick,

The majority of Kusadasi around the harbour and shopping areas is flat but it is split in to two parts and is seperated by quite a steep hill. There are dolmus which run between the two areas and of course these are very cheap. If you need flat, try Calis Beach at Fetiye or Dalamas, Dalaman.
