Yes !I was approached 4 weeks ago and asked if my partner and I would be kind enough to have a stall at the Black Olive, in aid of SOS charity, we agreed and made the necessary arrangements - we are at Lambousa and sell sterling silver jewellety. I have been a trustee of two charities for a number of years now in UK and know that these fund raising events are the lifeblood for any charity. Having received other donations for the SOS charity to take up on Monday we were approached at around 1pm today and told by someone that our stall is now superfluous to requirements as they already have onejewellery stall and they dont want us! Unfortunately, we were so taken back - and now seeing this posting it makes me seethe, that we are now having to lose out on an enjoyable charity day as well as returning the donations and towels to those that have been kind enough to contribute. In UK - these are not cypriot people, we usually treat volunteers and contributors with more respect!

Oh my gosh bondi, When we began arranging this fundraising event, we were asked by stallholders who booked straight away, not to duplcate the stalls. Are you Linda, the lady that approached Mary this morning, if so, did you not discuss selling dvd's and toys instead of jewellry? I apologise if we've offended you, but we are trying really hard to please everyone, as well as raising as much as we can for these poor unfortunate children

i have posted on the "support SOS which" i feel I do not wish to do - its not a matter of being offended its the question that you approached us to have a table over 4 weeks ago! - we did not ask you not to duplicate our goods. We go in - as its charity event, and say the more the merrier! its for a good cause and you should honour the booking. Personally, I am in the process of returning the contributions - its the children that lose out in all of this as I shall not be up there on Monday therefore I feel that because of the circumstances I have to return to the doners. By the way we do not sell dvds nor is my name Linda. This really is a "fine way" of trying to raise charitable funds - it sounds a bit of pleasing your mates by peppering, what should be a good lucrative event, with a smattering of protectionism. You said you cant please everyone - let those who want to support come along you may find that the morning is a rip roaring success and the collection plate is full.

I have bought jewellery from the people at lambousa, i know it is the same traders as they gave me their flyer, and yes "trading fayre" is on their website. I have bought items for myself and also friends from the UK have taken things home from them. So I cannot understand that the organisers have kicked them in the teeth and defended themselves by hiding behind the kids, saying "we are only trying to help these poor unfortunate children" What sanctimonious, condescending hypocrisy. I have always had a feeling that people who run charities foremostly involve themselves as a" look at me are'nt I good" character. I remember that for many years the Haig family took thousands from the poppy appeal for the use of the name. YES ! charity really does begin at home for some.

Fastclick, deepcyprus. I am not on any committee's and prefer not to be after having been there, done that-but am appalled at both your comments on people who are working many hours to make life just a bit easier for us all in the TRNC. If ever you have the need for an ambulance, help with illness,ie cancer, have a dog,cat that KAR will help,or need the dialysis machine just remember it's all the do gooders that have raised the money. Do you know for certain it was one of the committee members who cancelled Bondi,it looks to me like it was the lady from the Black Olive Cafe going by the tel no.You should both be ashamed of yourselves with these comments,i am glad not to have you as my friends.

Bondi & Fastclick, You are too fast at putting others down I would not buy from your "Trading Fayre" as you seem to think neagtive publicity is good. That would not be a good sign if your products prove to have a problem (which can happen with all traders). Do either of you do anything that is like a "do gooder"? I would hope you do things for others they are doing things that might help you in your time of need and even if you were to make yourselves known they would help you. If you have used the 112 service in North Cyprus you have been helped by the do gooders! Before them there were very few ambulances and no paramedics. FlowerFairy (and all do gooders) keep up the good work the rest of us support you.
