Hi wondered if anyone has ever taken cylinders on board aircraft to get them out to Cyprus,Have taken pony cylinders on aircraft to U.S.A. and was told to take it on as hand luggage, empty with valve open.

Have read various regulations with different carriers even on one site where it says cyl must have min 10p.s.i. of air or there abouts and valve must be open (now theres a contradiction if ever there was one ).Have made phone calls but cant get a straight ans off any one.Last resort is to take old firebrgade cyl which doesnt matter if it gets left at check in.Would appreciate hearing of any one elses experiences in this matter. cheers.

Hi Jesusjon,

Are you planning on living here?

Reason I ask is most of the dive clubs here, will hire you the tanks for next to nothing or include all of the equipment in with the dive.

You are most prob like me like to have your own stuff, but try North Cyprus Scuba and ask for Cengis he will help you they are also on the web http://www.northcyprusscuba.com he knows some really goood dive site on the island I am diving with him tonight.

Thanks.

Just phone Monarch. I have just amended my booking with them to add scuba gear and it costs £22.50 approx for an extra 13kg allowance. You get £5 discount on this if you prebook.

Hi John,

If you are flying south then I do not have the knowledge or the airline contacts, most sorry.

For the airlines to the North I might have been able to assist.

HI EVERYONE,

THE DIVE CENTERS SUPPLY YOU ALL THE EQUIPMENT YOU NEED. YOU HAVE TO DIVE WITH A DIVE CENTER IN CYPRUS AND IN TURKEY . THE LOCAL LAWS DO NOT GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO DIVE ON YOU OWN.

I AM A DIVE CENTER OWNER AND I KNOW THE RULES AND REGULATIONS. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DIVE WITH YOUR OWN TANK FINE BUT THE AIR IN YOUR TANK IS AS IMPORTANT AS YOUR TANK.

I AM DIRECTOR OF SCUBA CYPRUS. I HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY AND YOUR DIVING HOLIDAY AS WELL IN NORTHERN CYPRUS.

HAVE FUN

Hi Tom, Thanks for reply living in the Midlands never seem to be able to get flights into Ercan cheap enough but hopefully one day.

Msg 9 Ahmet, thanks for info yes i now understand the law about diving with a dive center, And yes the quality of the air in your tank is important and on that subject do you do Nitrox fills? Hopefully will get time to look you up while we are over.

Cheers

John.

Hi John which part of the Midlands.

We often provide flights from Birmingham to Ercan (and use it ourselves being in the Forest of Dean)

Tom

PS I know that Amphors offer Nitrox (we are their UK agent)

Hi John,

We do not do Nitrox but I can let you know about the dive centers which offer nitrox dives. There are couple of them.
