Hi all,

Is it only me that can't understand why you would want to buy a water cooler. They use electric to cool the water down and then you have to use twice as much electric to heat that water back up to make a cup of tea.

Why don't you just put a large jug of water in the fridge and keep topping it up when you need to? I should warn you that some of these water coolers are so noisy, you can't hear the telly.

The butlers wife is right about the noise. We recently bought a new one from Elektrokur (180TL) which is much quieter than the old one which we started up today for some workmen and it reminded me how bad it was.

The problem with putting water in the fridge is that you cannot drink the tap water so you would have to buy lots of small bottles of water.

One other point, I don't bother to heat the water in my machine because I am sure it must be rediculously expensive and the machine is having to constantly heat the water every time it cools down. Much better to boil a kettle on the stove and cheaper too.

Hi All,

We have a water dispenser,

1 side cold water,

1 side hot water,

But only switch the cold side on.

The hot side comes out tepid, for the kettle.

We only switched the power on last week,

as we had enough cold bottled water to do us each day in the fridge.

Also, a 19ltr bottle of drinking water is only 4 tl !!!

What's the cost of a 5 ltr bottle of water these days?

And less damage to the environment,

as the 19ltr bottles are returned when you need a refill!

So the money you spend by installing a water dispenser soon comes back.

Also handy if you have guests drinking tea or coffee.

Unfortunately, all our friends seem to want what's in the drinks cabinet. :-(

Have a look around the next time you're out,

you won't see any 19ltr empty bottles at the side of the road etc.

A water dispenser is definitely the cheapest option in the long run.

PS,

The model we have is so quiet,

you have to check the lights at the front to make sure it's on!!!

We have had the same water cooler now for 5 years and it is so quiet, no it was not the most expensive in fact probably the cheapest in Arcelik at the time. It has paid for itself time and time again. We drink loads of water summer and winter and as Navek has said not only environmently friendly but cheap at 4 1/2 tl for 19 litres! We don't use the hot water facility either in the summer. The cost in electricity is minimal.

Jimmyboy, this person cannot afford to buy new. Hence the request for a cheap second hand one.

Thank you.

Hi joandjelly,

I buy a 19ltr bottle of water and sit it on my worktop. It has a munual pump and tap on it, from this I fill a large jug of water and put it in the fridge, the jug has a lid on it and as you empty the jug you just keep topping it up. It takes up a lot less room than a water cooler and is much less expensive to run but hey! this is only my opinion and each to their own.
