The place - Mardo's Ice Cream shop, Cattlekoy Those present - Me, my miserable missus (will someone please give her a slap ?), Garry Monger, Garry Monger's Missus. Comments - Lovely sunny day and what better than sitting outside an ice cream parlour looking up at the distant mountains. Wide selection of ice creams - went for a "Snickers" and Coconut" mixture. The high's - very good quality ice cream, with a wide choice of flavours. Home made lemonade available as well as milkshakes... The low's - Garry Monger's missus asking if they did a "20 scoop bargain bucket" and when they didn't, marching straight round to Hot Chick for a "20 piece bargain bucket", which she scoffed in the car on the way back home.... Overall - a Neg Nick 8 / 10

I've recently done the Karakum and Lapta Mardos and agree the ice cream is lovely and the surroundings very comfortable. Got a banana ice cream from an ice cream van yesterday and it was really nice and only 2.5TL for 4 scoops

Well you can never go wrong with the Turkish Mainland food stuffs. Mardos being no exception. They know how to make ice cream. There ice cream is like real home made ice cream, not the synthetic stuff that is found in the supermarkets. If you've never tried it, do it. You won't be disappointed.

RE msg 9, negnick > Cattlekoy < => There's no "Cattlekoy" in TRNC nor in Texas. The place is called Çatalköy and exists in TRNC. You could at least respect your hosting country by trying to spell the names of villages and towns the right way.

Message 10 Karanoglanoglu - literal meaning "Son of Black Boy". Çatalköy - literal meaning "Fork Village" Kangarooagoogoo or Cattlekoy, makes no difference!! We know what he's on about. Have you had a SOH Bypass DC? Do you need Tara's assistance? Happy to help. T

mess 10 - you don't think i was saying "Cattlekoy" as a JOKE, do you Dutch ?? Does anyone actually smile rouind your place ? or is it all doom and gloom ? You ought to come round to Garry Monger's house one night for a fun filled evening, and who knows if you are really lucky, Mrs M will treat you to one of her "special" belly dances....

The only supermarket ice cream worth eating in Carte 'dor. Mardo's is fantastic, I always ask for a glass and take about half an hour deciding how many flavours and scoops I can get for 5TL! Their deserts are pretty scrummy as well.

cadman Just some info you may be interested in, Mardos is not a Turkish mainland company it is actually a Cypriot farther & son operation in the village of Dikmen, they have been producing ice cream for the last 15 years but have expanding island wide in the last 2 years... Good luck to them

Blackpool fan - I would think the one in Alsancak would be nearer for you than Mrs M's favourite in Karakum. Just a thought. As an added bonus, Garry's missus will probably not have eaten the entire stock of ice cream in the Alsancak one

LittleJohn I read that Karaoglanoglu was the name of the Turkish army colonel (not a general) who was the first officer killed during the '74 invasion!! But still good enough to get a suburb named after him even if many can't pronounce it. Also Esentepe is supposed to mean Windy hill and often lives up to this name. Aussie

Mardos ice cream - good stuff. Mardos pancakes and ice cream - nice but for two small pancakes with a small scoop on each one, I thought 8 TL a little on the large side.
