I suggest any Cyprus44 members attending the show on 30th June gather right at the top.

Gypsy Devils. I will be there right at the top sitting in my folding chair I suppose if anybody is interested, we can decide on some sort of colour scheme to identify each other. Bring along your drinks and sandwiches and a soft cushion to sit on or a folding chair if you are used to luxurious living!!!



Warning: only the fit can climb to the top, so those with no energy can sit at home

The festival is called Art and Culture Festival, perhaps the name is putting off people. Nothing high brow really. We are thankful that Famagusta Municipality (the real one and not the other pseudo one in the south) is bringing such events to our doorstep at very reasonable prices. I got a season ticket for 80 TL, well worth it even though sometimes I sleep through half of the performances. So what, it means that I am working very hard during the daytime and has nothing to do with old age (I keep telling myself)!!!

I went to a village fair last may in buyukkonuk



this is set amidst low hills and attractive rural surroundings in the karpaz



although billed as an eco-festival it was also not too demanding:



there was mud-brick making and donkey rides, folk dances and country crafts



the locals are using grant-aid to restore the imposing greek church



as well as several traditional structures like the mill



the other one I heartily recommend is the bellapais music festival in may/june:



really atmospheric setting, you can imagine with artistes from several countries



also free wine in the interval for the opening nite at least



...can't go to the magusa event this year ismet but maybe next?
