I'm thinking of bringing a UK car the other way the only concern I have is with Greece and the TRNC stamps in my UK passport how would they view the number plate there?

from my own experience:

bulgaria is a pain. The did not let me drive through, even german embassy interfered. I waited ther 5 hrs. they said, this car has TRNC plates, TRNC does not exist so your car does not exist. They told me that I could leave my car and travel without. haha.. very funny...

I also did not want to try it through greece and a ferry to italy was an option, but the expenses would have been enormous if they did also deny entry. So I drove back. On my previous trip from germany to TRNc via italy-greece-turkey, I had no problems at the greek border, my pasport is full with TRNC stuff. they just check your ID as it is European union. no problem with the car as it had german number paltes.

best regards, good luck

We drove over last June through France, Belgium, Luxenburg, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey then TRNC

UK insurance covered all EU countries so had to buy in Turkey. Be carefull of Austria and make sure that you buy a VIGNETTA at border crossing. Costs 8 Euro. We did not know this and within 20 mins in country we were stopped by police and fined on the spot 120 Euro and given 2 days to leave the country. Make sure you have the correct paperwork for your car especially in TRNC

wanderer,

we drove 5 weeks ago from leicester to catalkoy france, belgium, holland, germany, austria, slovenia, croatia, serbia, bulgaria, turkey and cyprus took 3 days in total absolutley no dramas hiccups headaches or anything.

i drove personally and li navigated or should i say read aa autoroute. vignette can be purchased in petrol stations in germany ensure you take v5 and get a green card from inurance company aswell as your vehicles normal insurance policy green cards are approx 40 quid .

We didnt have the green card this time and paid 120 euros at serbia and 60 ytl at the turkish border.

it was a breeze of a journey however istanbul can be an eye opener its like being on silverstone with 2 million motors and the drivers have the same driving experience as stevie wonder

The port at Tasucu had translation niggles with officials not communicating with one and other but sailed into kyrenia 10 hours later
