I have just received this report from IntelliNews

'Telecommunication infrastructure solutions provider Anel Telekomunikasyon Elektronik Sistemleri informs that it placed a bid, together with Italy 's Energos SPA, in the tender for a 1 MW solar power plant to be established in northern Cyprus .'

Unfortunately I do not have a subscription to view the full text.

Does anyone know anything else about this project?

It seems strange that there is this amount of investment in the TRNC while us mere mortals are unaware of the outcome of the 'peace talks'

Hi Jack, sorry for the late reply.

the EU has several programms for, as it is called officially, "the support of the turkish cypriot community". one of these projects is a 1 MW photovoltaic power plant to be established near Dikmen. tender closing was 24th of june tender opening was 7th of Juli.

the winning company has to start end of september and has to finish the job within 400 days.

this plant will be connected to the so called "mid voltage grid" and will reduce the poweroutput of our power stations by the amount of energy produced from solar and saves, roughly, 300 liters of fuel an hour.

(Teknicik consumption at 80 MW is approx 24 tons an hour). its a "trial project".

all that will be controlled by "Scada" the new monitoring system installed by Kibtek (i believe it also was a funded programm) beginning of this year, which makes it possible that additonal solarplants or windenergy could be added. more info?
