Well really littlenige, where is your tenacity man! why let a few jealous individuals get to you like that! a lot of us enjoyed what you wrote so please do not let them get to you. I used to run a small mag for years and did exactly what you did, but would add more sentences etc, just add that it is quote etc from what ever paper, easy and I never had complaints of legal action either. So man, please lets not let the negs get to you. lol

To save re-typing, or even copying over the news littlenige (or weenige as we would say) perhaps you could just post a link on this site to the news on your site, save a lot of work, then people who want to take advantage of the news could support both forums, maybe. BJ

blackjock There is no on-line edition of cyprus today ! Not being a professional typist it takes quite a time to do the round up of cyprus today, the news section on my forum has run very very well since november but to have the same old same old knocking you at each turn just gets on ones tit ends occasionally. As with the stars in your eyes thread and every time any one mentions " border " it is the same tripe from the samr select few.

sissy / michelle3012 see the thread http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/17951.asp factually correct I posted the story within 2 minutes of it appearing yet I get slagged off for the content of the story. Why they do not contact brt and complain to them I do not know.

Nige, At the risk of trying to teach you to suck eggs, why not get a cheap scanner with OCR. I did this last year when I mirrored the turtle diary on my web site, and it didn't half save a lot of typing. Ian

As far as I remember: news papers are made to sell - that's how the publisher paid my salary. Quoting more than a small summary from an article - with or without the source - is forbidden. Doing it on a regular basis is called theft. And for those who disagree with the above - why do you complain about burglars?

Why not ask the publisher of Cyprus Today for permission?! That's the only legal way. And then one will find out how the owner of the copyright on the content reacts. And yes, I feel strongly about news papers.

RE msg 28, Littlenige > cyprus today will soon be online < => Nigel, when you click the URL you provided I read: "Issue: Coming Soon - date: november". You may agree with me that this looks like a typical TRNC announcement. November. Hmmm. Was it 2008 (and nothing happened) or 2009 (and we'll have to see what will happen). P.S. There is only a Google date in the page source: 30.03.2009, so it may mean November 2009... Let's hope so.

Little Nige, So pleased you have decided to keep up the weekly news Round-up.....Cyprus Today are daft anyway, they could charge a small subscription and have the newspaper online...oh well will have to wait for that one, Maybe later in the year... but hopefully before 2012! Nige, I feel really bad as i started this thread and you got so much grief from it...forgive me? As for you Mr Dutch Crusader, you keep up your good work of crusading, and let us read the news in peace! I think this thread should be closed now....dont you??

RE msg 38 & 40: 1: There are no news papers in this world making money on an online edition. 2: That's the main reason for always very limited staff working for an online edition. 3: People don't want to pay for online news: "The Internet is free". It is proven that this counts specifically for young people (the future..!), who neither want to pay for printed news papers nor for on line news. The figures for quality and pulp news papers (readers, advertising) anywhere are very alarming. My prediction: to save the existence of news papers (albeit for the time being imo) governments will (be forced to) make Internet Service Providers charge an extra amount on every Internet connection - to be paid to news papers. The "free" news on the Internet will not be free for much longer. And rightly so. (As a journalist I have been active in new media from the start and although I'm retired now - the facts have not changed in the past 30 years).

Rupert Murdoch has announced this week that the Sunday Times will be on line subscription only from November. Times, News of the world, sun, etc to follow suit next year.

Dutchcrusader, I find my self in the strange situation where I feel I need to disagree with you, sorry but I couldn't help the sarcasm. Try gulfnews.com - Yes they have a free online version but also a more substantial version for a subscription fee but I suppose as is your normal you will point out that you don't recognise this as being part of this world. Yes, Nigel was probably breaking some copyright infringement laws but bear in mind he was not making a profit from this and did actually add the cutout section for getting a subscription to the newspaper which allows persons like yourself who are so against this situation to do it legally, I know you live in NC, saw you in Alan's bar the last time I was there so you can just pop to the local paper shop. Those who don't live there however might still be interested to know about the subscription availability but I am sure appreciated a chance to see the content. Great advertising I think for the paper not Nige !!
