At least get his name right Nige. Your grammar and spelling really does let you down. If you can't communicate effectively then don't do it at all - it cheapens the forum and reflects on us all (considering the audience)

It is a super article and I hope some of our 'friends' in the South read it.

Good article by Tom.

I agree, the Brit's shouldn't be shopping in the South. Put more border guards at the border, inspect all incoming vehicles, properly check receipts for purchases from the South and enforce the law.

This will need some hard-working, conscientious border guards whose job relies on their results/success and unfortunately, this is where my idea falls apart

cyprusairsoft - quite right. It'll stop all the 'fly by night' taxi drivers doing the Larnaca trips and not declaring the income!

Good or bad column - there is still NO difference between stealing text and stealing property from a house. The column is Mr. Tom Roach's property, sold to Cyprus Today, and if he wants to republish or syndicate his work, he's very well capable of doing that himself. He doesn't need nor deserve republishing without his permission.

It's sad some people here want the law on their side - but only if it suits them.

Mr Roche writes the same thing every other week, next week he will be writing about how inadequate the local civil servants are.He never changes. Why the editor keeps letting him repeat the same old same old beats me.

If he is the big shot producer he claims he is then why isnt he pulling strings in TV world and stopping biased crap Trevor McDonalds lot keep airing?

Gill Fraser,I know you read this board(given half of what you publish comes from here)get rid of him, give someone else a go.

I would like to nominate Ismet Ustuner,he is a mind of information and I personally never tire of reading what he has to say.

Wanderer wrote "The comments about the Tour guides is true that how i came to the North and suffered their poison" "Just You" holidays are advertising 8 days for £829 Salamis Bay Conti Resort Hotel from UK/Larnaca including transfer. The dilema must be for Hotels surely, must be, do we make money or face closure. This situation will not go away and is no different to those who choose to cross over the South for shopping. One could only hope that when they arrive and are taken around on their daily tours they would see the better side. Maybe its for the Manager/Owner of the Hotel to give his explanation, or maybe there are no scruples where survival is concerned.

Dalarokat

The comment was regarding the comments made by the guide from the south Cyprus day tour that bought me to the North."don't take everything at face value beware" "the TRNC guide will be joining us at the border I will be restricted in what I say"She then appeared to be the TRNC guides best friend when she boarded the coach

The the same type of comments that were given to me by the Israeli guide in Jerusalem and Bethlehem in 2000 regarding the Palestinians .

We were not allowed in the Palestinian shops we were in the North

The comments were just to echo Tom's regarding guides the comments from my personal experience .

As to the South just go to Derhenia (probably spelt wrong ) and see the racist poison that is allowedat the viewing point(I've not been for 4 years )

Leaving the North to cross south the only sign "Peace at home peace in the world"

People are voting with their feet on the euro zone value .Control your currency control your destiny TRNC is ideally p

RE msg 37, teatime: Boring?! (Sigh). It's so tiring to explain the real world. If you've really been a civil servant (your Profile) it may be hard to understand that other people in this world only get paid when they work. Like journalists. They sell their spiritual product/property once, twice or sometimes syndicate it. If they don't do that or when their work is stolen they don't make money or don't get what they are owed.

Let's hope you don't have to reconsider your thoughts about (copy)rights when burglars have visited your house.

P.S. It has nothing to do with Nigel as a person. But he's guilty of taking text from a news paper without permission. Why doesn't he ask Cyprus Today's permission (and possibly have to pay for it!)?! It's that easy!

Wanderer, message 27-28 yes understand now what you are saying. Shame the link has gone, but I was going along the lines of Tom Roache seemed to be saying also he would have preferred to see no one going over to the South and shopping etc done in the North. Which is an opinion he is entitled to make but everyone needs to sing from the same hymn sheet if Tour Operators etc are going into the South and using Hotels in the North. But as I said its money and business and tourists the North needs. Its difficult.

Dutch I have no opinion on the link, just saying "shame link has gone" for reading it again as only read it quickly last night.
