Hi folks,

If you go to the services/system/add channels menu and enter a new frequency, Polarisation, Symbol rate and FEC it is possible to pick up new channels and save them to the additional channels group.

Harrythedog on another board posted this addition to get BBC News 24 which is much better than Sky News:

Frequency 11954 Polarisation H Symbol Rate 27500 FEC 2/3 for BBC News 24 and other radio stations.

Anymore channels that are not on the main EPG anyone want to share with us?

hi guys

you cant get itv2 on a 1.5mt or a 1.8mt dish, you need at least a 3.5mt! and its not 22 symbol rate its 22000

for some people who might have lost ch5 signal, you can recieve ch5 region 2 on freq 12304 - h - 27500symbol - 2/3fec

also people who have a sky package and cant get e4 you can receive e4 ireland all that is diffrent is the adverts freq 11565 - v - 27500 - 2/3

and for people who have not got a big enough dish to receive bbc you can get a 8 channels which broadcasts live events that freq is 12441 - v - 27500 - 2/3

hope this helps

hi roger

there are many sat systems you can go for let me list a few for you

1) sky you will need a min 1.8 metre dish to receive most of all the sky channels apart from all bbc channels and itv channels you will also need a sky box (which you can bring from the u.k) aswell as a card if you only intend oto watch chan4 5 and a few other channels then you dont have to pay a monthly fee, if you want to view channels like sky 1 sky movies and sports then you will have to take out a subscription either do this in the u.k or you can do this in cyprus for a extra premium

2) the most cheapest way is getting a satellite box (next ye2000 most reconmended) and dish pointed at hotbird this opens a load of channels including bbc prime (spinoff of bbc) and loads of movie channels and sports

3) digiturk this is like sky but the turkish version you dont get itv's or bbc's but you get loads of movie channels and discovery, music and other stuff this is a monthly subscrption package the cheapest being 19:90ytl (£8)upto 43:90ytl (£18) you can order this from the digiturk office

the other two systems you can get from ice man

there is another alternative again this is a monthly subscripton and is called showtime this again has loads of english speaking programs you can purchase this from a shop called coldsat

hope this helps

Uturk,

many thanks for the quick reply, I like my sports, some people have told me that I need a 5m dish for sky, have seen some of them, that's what you call abig dish I have had showtime while I working in Oman that was quite good Would my UK sky card also work in Cyprus and pick up all the channals as well or would it be cheaper buying a sky card in NC, who would you recomend buying the dish from, sorry asking so many questions, but new guys in cyprus I'm affraid, don't know our way arround yet

hi rodger

the only time you need a min of a 3.5 to 5mt dish is to pick up bbc1 and itc channels if you are not to fussed then a 1.8mt will surfice

ok course your sky card that you got in the u.k will work in cyprus, defo not buying a card or taking out subscription in cyprus is scheaper it more expensive you have to pay a admin fee for the card which is £150 a year plus a couple of quid extra a month on the package you subscribe to

for sky install and dishes iceman is well known for sky install jobs not cheap but good installer his number is 0533 861 0329 or if you go for the showtime package coldsat's number is 0392 821 8309

hope this helps mate
