When you read posts on boards they can be amusing informative and down right depressing. it would be really nice to see tc and expats having a common ground instead of ripping each other off we all have bigger fish to contend with in the near future gc for example. I came her to live and play by trnc rules even if i think some of them are ridiculous. lets show each other some solidarity and kick the greek infiltrators and their british friends into touch i respect the kktc and its turkish defenders and would defend my own home as well we are on the same side

Hi Cyprusairsoft, I agree with what you are saying but I think both TC and Brits need to mix and socialise more together. There should be more organized events where the two can meet. They should stop seeing us as cash cows and we should stop seeing them as rip off merchants. This is easier said than done of course, especially when lots of people have experienced difficulties with their builders and developers, lawyers etc. If these problems occur before you even start living here, then it kind of gets you in particular mind set. So I say, learn the language and make friends with any TC neighbours you may have. Shop at your local village shops, spend time with the local children and take an interest in what they are doing. Invite them to your house for tea with their parents and see what makes them tick. Children are the best tools we have as they haven't learnt to think of any ulterior motives. The butlers wife

CAS, Posted something similar about three years ago and was branded a war monger and trouble maker who should push off back to UK and leave decent people alone to sort out life for themselves. Strange that I came here knowing all about the warts and proclaimed that I would stand and fight at the side of any TC/Turk to defend their or my home in the TRNC. This sort of attitude did not fit in with the "swallows" nor the "keep your head down" brigade who just like to fight in words but not in life. In part I can understand it as most have come here for a safe and easy life, I just hope they are not living in the dream that the British will spring to their rescue should any troubles occur - those days have long gone now and you are well and truly on your own in the world. Wish you luck and will stand with you - won't start the fight because it is not my country and I am a guest here - but will stand beside anyone who has made me as welcome here as I have been.

Integration is important the language for me is a nightmare (dyslexic) but I try New to an area schools are the best way to integrate your kids meet other kids you meet the parents One problem a lot of British are of my age without the door opener of children they have flown the nest and I'm SKIng. We have had some of our best experiences in local shops with diagrams phrase books calenders ordered suits suites shoes repaired clothes altered Its got me out of the I'm pd with the call centre and shout attitude there is a willingness with people .Even the Turkcell girl who was implementing the new rules she helped me get round a situation. She also chased after a lady who had left half her stuff behind . More good experience than anything

Lovely to read such comments re 'standing shoulder to shoulder with the TC'. I go to the Karsiyaka coffee shop every morning for my Turkish coffee - sometimes my husband is there sometimes not, but always welcome. I am ashamed to say I have very limited Turkish, but manage to be understood or understand. I truly feel heartwarmed to read the comments above. Remember to fly your flags TC and Turkish outside your homes or from your windows, let the GC know we are not going anywhere.

Many of us have 'burnt our bridges' so to speak and yes of course we are concerned about our homes here, but so are so many cypriots who have tried to come back to their homeland. And I totally agree United We Stand, and it's not in fear ofwhat we might loose that I say that, it is getting the rest of the world to recognise all the wrongs that have been suffered here and really stuff the EU just recognise us, PLEASE

the butler You are either on drugs, just arrived from Outer Mongolia or devoid of any understanding of the reality of living in the TRNC. When the President and General suffer from xenophobia there is no hope! Richard
