The Orams put their entire UK wealth into an 'Asset Management Fund Trust' which no one in the World can touch. Still looking for that Greek registered JCB heading for Lapta but to no avail. The Greeks were always good at going backwards, WW2 Crete, Cyprus 1974, the Drachma before the Euro and plenty of other examples!

as much as i support the turkish cypriot population and the Orams in their quest for a fair outcome to their problem this is an insult to the many Greeks who laid down their lives for the allied cause in world war 2.

The British Graveyard in Suda Bay, Crete

Is worth a visit and it also shows the vast number of lives lost by the British, Australian and new Zealand servicemen, in addition to many others, who fought to free the Greeks.

brinsley,

you have to give them their due: the brave greeks together with a little british help,

forced the italians into an ignominious retreat back into albania in 1940:

but the nazis arrived to bail them out the following april and easily overran greece

nonetheless those precious five weeks this delayed hitler's attack on russia

probably cost the germans their one chance to capture moscow

and er...their best hope to win the second world war

likewise the danger to the 50,000 tommies from 300 eoka partisans was formidable

during the cyprus "troubles" in the 1950's

update the 1950's to the present day and see the change even on the cyprus 44 forum

out: land mines, ambushes, hostile populace, an impotant empire and daring partisans

in: name calling, weighty pronouncements, inappropriate petitions and partisan judges
