| The Cyprus Turkish National Committee of Existence wants the Greek President of the European Court of Justice Vasilios Skouris to be put on trial for violating the rules of discipline. ECJ President Skouris was presented with an honorary medal by the former Greek Cypriot Leader Tassos Papadopoulos for his services to the Greek Cypriots at a time the Orams Case was being filed at ECJ. In a written statement issued on behalf of the Executive Board of the Committee, Kamil Ozkaloglu said this has been a violation of the European Union’s judge rules. Mr Ozkaloglu also reminded of the fact that Skouris, who served Greece as the Minister of Interior in the past, held contacts in South Cyprus with high level Greek Cypriot officials to discuss the ECJ’s awaited decision on the Orams Case. | Sorry to try to inject a little common sense into proceedings... but when ECHR cases were going AGAINST TR - with TR judges on the panel.. I didn't hear GCs crying "foul".... The Advocate General isn't Greek or a Greek speaking Cypriot... she ruled on a point of LAW...when asked for her LEGAL opinion.. I really don't understand the fuss. .... There won't *Be* more Orams' cases... Even the RoC doesn't want similar actions - like it even wanted THIS one... Please can someone tell me what you expect Mr Cameron to say.... Possibly "Did you READ the Foreign and Commonwealth Office advice on buying in Cyprus"?.... |

| Hmmm. mmmm You have to admit that this news asks serious questions about the purity of this verdict? I certainly wouldn't want to be judged by someone who is connected in this way, to my oppo! Not fair I say. |

| Come on Mark, you would come up with an exscuse for the Devil - and often do. As I understand it there was also a judge who was either GC or married to one. Troodo. |

| Any Judge should do there utmost to avoid even the appearance of conflict of interest and in this case Justice Vasilios Skouris should have recused himself from this case. Whilst I don't believe this would have changed the courts decision this is a serious error of judgement and ethical breach and in my opinion he should be removed form his role as a judge in the ECJ.
