does anyone elses dogs do a twilight barking...when the sun has set, and the air starts to cool and everyone is at home relaxing with a glass of something....all is at peace with the world and your eyes start to slowly close while you listen to the gentle sounds of nightime falling...and then the sodding dogs start howling and barking and running around as if their lives depend on it....GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!! Can anyone relate to this..?????

DD know exactly what you mean here! Just back last Monday after three weeks. Long day at beach or wherever, sitting on balcony with a glass of something, the air is cooling (well, you get the picture) and then - all bloody hell lets loose. One dog starts, another few join in both barking and howling. Used to go on for about half - three quarters of an hour and all would go quiet. Mind you, it only took one to start up again and they'd all be off again. You couldn't hear yourself bloody think!

Full moon/ Wind? Many Turks and Cypriots I hear, have an aversion to the wind which affects their general mental wellbeing. This condition affects animals and humans alike, my whole family of 11 has now been affected.

We have a rescue dog - good as gold - does bark on occasions - dogs do bark - nature

BUT I do object to some people accusing me of my dog barking at 1.30am & 2.30 am - constantly!!!! over the last few weeks - when she wasn't even out at that time of the morning. Have checked with all the neighbours and no on else has been aware of her barking.

I have been woken up every night this week not by barking dogs but by howling dogs - like a wolf cry - maybe it is the moon or wind but it is at 2.30 - 5 am

I do sympathise, it can drive you crazy. One of my sons does 12 hour night shifts

some weeks and can't get to sleep for neighbour's dog barking (this is in Ayrshire)

He tells me you can't do anything unless it's at night! He's in defence police so I guess

he knows, but I would definitely have to do something about it. It happens all over, but

a lot of folk now keep a dog for guarding their house and they all out working. Not fair on

the dog either - but there you go - so called dog lovers. Maybe try speaking to neighbours.

airy...fairy...it may be the wind, i know with my own dogs, the wind drives them mad, and they go wild, but they calm down as soon i put them inside...maybe you could have a little chat with your neighbour who has the dog/s....?

MSG 13,

Phylray, your son is wrong, a Statutory Nuisance can exist 24/7 under "The environmental Protection Act 1990" (section 80) which also covers Barking Dogs. The dog owner has the responsiblity "at all times to stop the animal making excessive noise and to control it" Formal action can be taken against them if witnessed.

Have a word with your neighbour about leaving the dog out and the problem it/they are causing. If this does not work then contact your local council's Environmentasl Health Department, as they have a duty to act.

I know as this is part of what I do for a living.

Let me know if I can be of any further help

Regards,

Patrick.

Thanks Patrick, I thought that was the case, and I will tell him (he lives in same town but

on other side)

Aillietoo Easier said. Try sleeping through constant loud barking after a 12 hour night

shift.
