It's not the sign tax, apparently the government don't want the casinos advertising. Nobody seems to know much about what's going on though.

Just the Las Vegas hotel sign is still up. The casino sign has been removed. The Mercure also doesn't appear to be showing its casino sign, just the hotel one.
