Can anyone give me some general info about karisyaka? Are there banks/pharmacy/doctors/supermarkets/petrol stations etc or would you need to go into Kyrenia. We have only ever stayed the other side of the town and just need to get a feel for the area. thanks pugsey

Well...there are a couple of restaurants, a few 'corner' shops a butchers and a few coffee shops...be sure to fill up the tank before coming....we also have lots of beach's that are somewhat empty for most of the year! DD

thanks for the info. My mother in law is going to come over in August and will be renting somewhere until her villa is ready so we are trying to find somewhere with facilities close to hand as she does not want to have to drive into Kyrenia all the time. Hi Daisy, thanks for the info. We have usually stayed in Catalkoy or Ozankoy but have seen a couple of nice places to rent in karisyaka but as you can probably tell are unfamiliar with that area. Although the beaches would be nice for me it is probably not a huge issue. Do you think she would be better staying the other side of Kyrenia as I know there are banks and a pharmacy there or would Karisyaka meet her requirements? It will be for about 6 months so we would like to be as informed as possible before she makes a decision where to rent. thanks pugsey

Banks, a pharmacy and a petrol station are all within 5-10 minutes drive of Karsiyaka on the main road heading into Town.

That's encouraging as she is pretty nervous about driving over there until she gets used to it. thanks joandjelly

Hi Pugsey, If your mother in law is nervious about driving, you are better sticking to Catalkoy. The west of Girne is a nightmare. I drive in London but I hate driving down that road from Girne to Lapta, it is a death trap. The east of Girne is so much quieter and has everything you need. The butlers wife

You could always stay in Lapta or Alsancak, these are quite a bit busier than karsiyaka, but you have all amenities close to hand.... DD
