Can you please tell me where the local market which takes place on a wed is located in Girne. Also are there any other markets that take place during the week or weekend. Thank you

Ask for Girne Police station if you get lost, It's next door.

It's only 'Right' at the fountain roundabout if coming from the West. If coming from Girne it's turn 'Left'.

We don't all live in 'Laptashire'.

So, coming from Alsancak is it just after the first roundabout, or after the second roundabout on the right. Sorry to bother you all, but have only been over twice before and have yet to know our way around

jonkay,

From your direction, turn right at the roundabout with the water fountain on then turn 1st left.

Follow the road round the bend then turn 1st left again, go straight up this road and turn left, the market is in front of you and you will see cars parked up and the start of stalls.

However, you have missed today, so please don't go until next wed!!

Oh and by the way jonkay & smithy, when they say 'water fountain' be aware that it ain't always on. Just look for a fountain that should be on but don't expect to see any water as they only turn it on for visiting dignitaries. But I guess they may just turn it on for you.

Hi, I think they have now understood where the Wednesday market is lol! As previous poster just ask for the police station if in doubt!

By the way the Wednesday Girne market is not just mornings it is open all day until 5/6pm though not all stalls!

It's great for fresh fruit & veg!

There is also a Friday market from 10am-1pm I think (morning anyway) in the gardens of the Carpenter's Bar & restaurant:

http://www.carpenters-restaurant.com/about.php selling arts & crafts, books, home made jams, pies etc

Saturday is the big market in the lovely surroundings of 'Chateau Lambousa' Lapta 9am-2pm, situated opposite the Celebrity hotel in Lapta/Waterfront Bar & restaurant, there is a path that leads you straight up to the market. Similar to the Carpenters but more stalls...

Sundays there is a new market in Karakum, if you search there is another thread about this new market!

Happy shopping!
