Hi all

Does anyone know the current price of Golden Virginia as I am going out in September & although it is not in the E.U. everywhere else has gone up substantially as I found it in Spain recently.

Many thanks for any info

Golden V and all other brands are the same price at 8.50TL (£3.40 at todays exchange rate of 2.50) for a 50 Gm pack in any supermarket. Looks like it was cheaper at Ercan but depends on the exchange rate of the day.

Hi guys

Many thanks for all the info provided. I paid €48.50 for 10 x 50G last month in Spain so based on these prices it is much cheaper !!

I have been to TRNC many times over the past 10 years & did notice the price going up but nothing compared to the E.U. prices that have got up since June (particularly in Spain).

The only problem with flying in & out of Ercan is the restriction on bringing tobacco back ?

I assume these prices are recent / up to date ?

Cheers

waddo - tobacco products are quite a bit cheaper at Ercan airport, but in my experience they will only sell you what you are allowed to take back. Still, I suppose you could visit more than one shop?

Dusterbruce - we go through the 'Nothing to Declare' - so far, so good.

Don't overpack your hold luggage with tobacco products, it's x rayed, as we found out when returning from Portugal once. They wanted to know why we had so many ciggies packed!

Shop around at the airport as Some of the shops are cheaper than others. Most of them will sell you as much as you want, they don't worry about restrictions. Even better, buy it at Ercan on the way in, then you can pack it in your suitcase, (Not that I would get more than the limits, of course, in case there are any HMRC staff looking in).

I also go through the EU channel when arriving back in UK.

Good luck and 'Fill your boots'.

If you get stopped on the return journey back to the UK and asked where have you come from, reply Cyprus and if asked which part just say Cyprus, then if on further interrogation asked what part, respond that HMG only recognises one Cyprus which is part of the EU and this is for personal consumption only! Has worked for me on a few occasions!
