How can you get rid of a sort of scum mark all around the top part of the pool., marking the tiles ?I tried to move it with a sponge but did not make any difference - I don't want to ruin the tiles.

Thanks

Charlotte

It might be due to hard water, in which case the PH of the water in your pool is probably too high.

Ask your pool company to test it, and correct it if necessary - although of course, they should already be doing this...

Bring your sample in and after I analyse it you can ask your pool co what about x,y and z? If they don't have the answers you can start from there.

If one is going to be away from there home for a couple of months and not have the filters working. Will covering the pool and adding some kind of chemical stop it stagnating? Or is it advisable to drain it...at lots of expense to refill when returning??

Cheers,

P.

Hello V,

Thanks for the reply, on the other blog RE "mossies in the pool".

If it is stagnant and you put in petrol/diesel to kill the larvae. Do you have to drain the pool after or just turn on the filters and add top up water and chemicals to get rid of larvae and petrol/diesel?

Or is it a total drain down and pool clean?

Do you do the Iskele area?

Cheers,

P.

Hi charlotte55

No need to take samples of water anywhere, all you need to do is lower the water below the scale and if you can find Hydrochloric acid dilute it 3 to 1 in a bucket and with the help of a brush just brush it off. If you cant find Hydrochloric acid just go to the rearest supermarket and buy TUZ RUHU. You will find it on the shelf where the detergents are.

Good Luck

PoolDoc, your advice is right, but not a "long lasting solution". As the water seems to be hard (scum mark on the tiles), you will soon again have this "scum mark" on the tiles. So better get it checked and do something against "hard water"? I mean, it is offered for free, so there seems no problem for me. Vaughan is a nice guy and can give good advise.

Tiggy: To empty a pool is not a good solution as you waste precious water! Vaughan would be the correct man who can give some good advice how to lower the running cost when the pool is not used. Hope this helps!

Anyhow, its up to you. Cheerz, happy swimmings,

Henrik

Just to repeat my offer to anyone who wants their pool water analysed - bring me a 500ml water bottle full - keep it out of the sun on your way here - and I will do it for you FOC. You don't have to be a customer and you don't have to buy anything.

BTW, You'd be surprised how many people come in to me and say they have a problem but don't bring a sample with them - Dooooh!
