I have a keyboard and am looking for someone who can teach me how to play it, preferably on the Catalkoy side of Girne.

I would prefer it the lessons to be on a one to one as opposed to a group.

I have had a few piano lessons and know some of the basics ie some scales and basic tunes, but that is about all.

Is there anyone who can teach a 'slow' learner?

... Hi Scooby,

What kind of stuff are you looking to play? ... if you are struggling there are amillion sites on You Tube... just type in something like easy paino.. learning etc... there are a few on there that are always trying to sell you something.. ignore them.. there are plenty that are free and very good.

ps. What type of 'keyboard' do you have?'... If you know anyone that is looking for one.... at the moment I have 3 and need to sell one...

Thank you.

Hi Rosebet,

At the moment I have a Yamaha PSR 8000, Korg X5D and I am selling the Yamaha GX-76... which has 88 keys... in Octaves.... so that's about ... it's long.. ! .. touch sensitive... great piano sound.. lots of other gadgets and if you are technically minded, I'll show you how to use the MIDI function... So you can add loads of backing etc.. great gadget. ....

Anyway.. this isn't the selling forum... Scooby wants some lessons... but if you are interested I'm open to offers.

Hi Scooby. If you want any music books. . And a general idea how to get started, i can give you plenty of stuff. . . . Basic left hand. . . . Techniques etc. . . . . Once you've learned the basic chords and stuff you'll be well on your way. . . . Maybe you'll be on stage soon. . . . Do you play any other instruments?

Thanks Traveller, I don't think I will be on stage for quite a while, in fact probably a very long while! I am the type of person that needs to be shown how to play as I am not a natural player but I do enjoy it when i get going. You have to either work or have a hobby over here.

I have had a few piano lessons realising that it would be better in the long run then I can play from keyboard or piano music books.

I do have a collection of books called 'The complete keyboard player' but I got stuck and decided a few lessons would not go amiss.

I do not play any other instruments and i do sing extremely badly and always in the shower!!!

I may well take you up on your offer though, thank you so much for offering. Which area are you in?

Ha ha. . . . . .very true, if you want a hobby this is a good start, in fact i wish i could play more. . . . Only manage a couple of hours each day. . . . And thats been the case for the last 30 years. . . . .cmd i'm still learning. . . . The good thing about these modern keyboards is you can play like an expert in a very short time. . . . Almost playing by numbers. . . . Find a tune that you like and practise that one. . . . Have a goal and aim towards it. . . . As i said, if you need some quick basic tuition, will be happy to point you in the right direction. . . . . Personally, i've never had a lesson in my life. . . . And i've even put my stuff on you tube. . . . Although my singing is terrible. . . . Ha ha. . . . Ps . . . My grand father was an excellent player, but couldn't read a note of music. . . .

Hi Traveller,

I am interested in the GX-76 keyboard with 76 keys. I would be able to offer you £120.00.

I'll leave that thought with you.

Thank you.

Kind Regards

Sharon

Message for Scooby,

If you have the Books for 'The complete keyboard player' these are okay but have the usual songs in them... fleur de lise etc... not very inspiring... my neice was looking to play guitar a couple of years ago and my brother insisted she learns chords... as you do when learning to play the piano or whatever.. its all about technique.... this is one version...

The other way is to find where you want to be in lets say 6 months... have a look at that and then decide how to go about learning the chords, timing etc... Assuming you're not into heavy metal.... pick something fairly easy and I reackon within about 3 months assuming you get plenty of practise... this is the boring bit... then you should be up to perfomance level... go for it!

Most the people my age, who were having piano lessons do not play now... although a very good friend of my brothers went on to play with Johnny Logan ...

At the moment I am learning Child in Time.. Deep Purple!

Hi traveller,

Heavy metal .... fat chance! I've only just got pass The White Rose of Athens, how inspiring is that?

Any chance you could send me a contact number or email address via text message to 0533 842 8713, I would be interested in taking you up on your offer 'to point me in the right direction'.

Having just come back from UK, I picked up all 4 books for the complete keyboard player and a couple of others ie Elton Johns hits, Beatles etc. So I am ready to go!!

Thank you

Hi Scooby...

I live in Kyrenia... I'm very busy most days at the moment and have an audition with one of the local bands this week.. Turkish Rock band.. that should be interesting... they play mostly English/Amercian/Rock... Well it's not really an auditon, more like I gave the lead my number last week and asked them to get in touch if they wanted a keyboard player.. should be fun...

I'll try to catch up with you in a week or so... I always think you can learn an instrument in about 20 minutes... but it's the practise that takes about 30 years! Speak to you soon.
