Yes, I know its an old topic, but if we were to have Astra then we could watch it on the German RTL channel free.

But unfortunately our 'plumbed-in' system is connected to Eutel, hotbird and turksat. We can get all the channels these satellites output but so far cannot find the GP qualifying broadcast without payment, so what chance of seeing the GP anyone ? At present it appears that we will have to get a card subscription and use the slot in our trusty Maplin box in future. TIA

Sideways, great thanks for giving the positions.

Brinsley, thanks I got TRT tuned-in to watch it but as soon as the programme started it cut to scrambled, so no hope there ! RAI (Italian) also runs it but again as soon as it started it went to scrambled. Old Bernie must charge so much that only the beeb can show it free in Europe.

Tootie, thanks, I will keep a close eye on it tomorrow as it gets nearere the time.

But we think we have an alternative in RTR from Russia, when we lived there it always ran the F1 races, so we live in hope there as an alternative.

But always interested in alternatives through the 3 satellites we are compulsorily connected to.

cheers

Thanks Madouh.

Following your suggestion I have once again waded through the dross of 1700 odd channels and can only find one 'RTL 2 CH'. But as there is a family of hotbirds and ours is 13.0E then I think the channel to which you refer is possibly on another member of the hotbird family. Appreciate your kindness though.

cheers

Well friends I failed miserably. Even LTV (thanks Tootie) switched to scramble when the programme started. My old faithful Russian channels also let me down, I have always watched them on terrestial before, so perhaps they have now also learned the value of switching to satellite and having power to charge. Even Radio 5 commentary on the net is censored by the time it gets here too. The best I could do was watch the lap summaries on the BBC sports web page. Such frustration.

Pleased Webber won, he lives nearby at home (Aston Clinton, Bucks). He cycled into a friend of a friend's farmyard the other day and asked his way home, he can only go round in circles it appears. But he was good enough to pose for a picture with him.

So it looks as if I had better buy a digiturk card to stick up the slot, big shame. Is nothing free in life any more except fresh air ?

Thanks all for your help

Dear Guinness

Get Iceman to put you up a good 1.8m offset dish and you can use your existing receiver to pickup the interactive (FREE) feeds from BBC

Guinness

A bit late I know, but I managed to watch the race on RTL (channel 200 on Hotbird). $ indicated that channel is normally scrambled but race was shown in clear albeit with German commentary. Don't know if they have done same with previous races, but I will try again for next race.

RE: Msg 11. Please read my opening post again. I have no choice as to which satellite I choose to tune to. 3 are already piped down to me by our benevolent developer/management company. No other antennae are allowed, hence my query.

Paul, dammit I missed out, but which member of the hotbird family are you tuned to?, cos if channels were not scrambled then they were showing 'no signal'. Doh

We used to watch F1 on RTL for 7 years in Bosnia and German is no problem for us to watch as we handle several languages between us. Till next time then, thanks.

cheers

re 13

I'm sorry but you DIDN'T say you couldn't put up another dish !

It doesn't matter if you have three dishes plumbed in, already... IF you were allowed to put up a 1.8 it would come down the same cable as t'other three...

I'm guessing it's not in English ?

Thx in anticipation ...
