Kelvin you are not alone. My late English Bull Terrier used to go ballistic and charge around the pool at break neck speed barking furiously as soon as anyone started swimming. Apart from that he was a very quiet and gentle boy. The pool area is now so quiet without him.

The family who own the house behind us in Alsancak have a small, jet black dog. Lovely little thing and you never hear a peep out of him - until someone gets into their pool and he goes ballistic! J

Kelvin You have 3 options: 1: Drain pool. that would save on costs! 2: Carry dog into pool with you, speaking calmly and lovingly. 3: Try Repetitive Cognitive Therapy,...........also known as 'Electric Cattle Prod'! Rob

I personally think they are anxious about their owners performing this strange task of swimming! They are concerned that is all

natalie The 'Dog Whisperer' in me has always found they need to be taught that 'we' are their masters. They have to be trained to comply with 'our' needs, not the other way round. If you let your dog take 'control', you have lost control. Once they realise who is the master, they are usually much better and safer pets. Rob

Think you'll find, the dogs are concerned and are trying to attract attention. Bull breeds in particular show a lot of concern for their owners, and do everything they can to protect them. They are extremely intelligent dogs.

I have a German Pointer, no problem, when we go in the pool he just slinks off and hides till we get out again! He is afraid of the water and it has taken has nearly two years to get him to stand on the side of the pool but you just can't keep the little git out of the sea - don't figure!!!

Waddo my English Pointer is exactly the same. He won't even walk around a sunbed if it means he has to go anywhere near the plastic covers on the overflow channel. He doesn't really like the sea either and will only go in up to his tummy and not at all if there are any waves.

Well i have the opposite, although it's not a problem really....my dogs can not pass a pool without the need to jump in....and they will dive bomb over and over again no matter if there is anyone there or not.....i swear they should have been taken away and trained in sea rescue as they have absolutely no fear whatsoever!! They are even careful not to land on people or scatch anyone.....fabulous to watch, as they provide hours and hours of entertainment!! DD
