Turning it on it's head I suppose you are saving the calories in full fat coke to use on eating more kebabs!

NN - Garry Monger's missus is obviously going with the logic of 'the more DIET coke you drink, the more weight you lose.'

It's simple when you think about it really.

Diet drinks can aid a weight loss programme. Slimming World & Weight Watchers plans allow you to drink as much as you like. However - Did you know that diet coke contains ASPUTAME which is a poison which is used as a sweetener which is used in a lot of food and soft drinks. It was first used in the carpet manufacturer process and is now believed to be responsible for a lot of illnesses such as MS, cancer etc etc etc. The manufacturers in the USA who push this also fund the Health lobbies so that they cannot speak against them. I sent an email to ALL my friends just last week from an eminent doctor in a Canadian Hospital who is spreading the word. Do not use anything with ASPUTAME in it. Use Spenda which is derived from Sugar. Best to drink 6 - 8 glasses of water per day. Also eat Grapefruit - it has been proven medically to assist in weight loss, insulin in grapefruit prevent fat being stored - fact!!! check it out.

Grapefruit and grapefruit juice can interfere with some medications so check with your Doctor before using this as part of a weight loss program.

I wouldn't touch aspartame myself after reading the nasty reviews. I now just drink tea and coffee without sugar or sweetners.

I'm sure NN put this on for a joke but there is so much damning evidence now against fizzy drinks it's amazing that anyone drinks them at all. All these manufactured, unnatural products are, are chemicals and fizzy water, and whether they are 'diet' or otherwise, they will make you fat.

A well as a whole host of damaging sweeteners most of them also contain phosphorus. Phosphorus attaches itself to calcium and stops your body absorbing it. This is bad news for kids - as well as others with regular intake - as their bones need protection from osteoporosis in later life.

If you want fizz, try using sparking water, if the kids want fizzy drinks use natural juices and fizzy water.

From BBC News Website-

Too much cola zaps muscle power

Sugars and caffeine in cola are probably to blame

Excessive cola consumption can lead to anything from mild weakness to profound muscle paralysis, doctors are warning.

This is because the drink can cause blood potassium to drop dangerously low, they report in the International Journal of Clinical Practice.

They tell of the curious case of an Australian ostrich farmer who needed emergency care for lung paralysis after drinking 4-10 litres of cola a day.

He made a full recovery and was advised to curtail his cola drinking.

We have every reason to think that it is not rare

Dr Clifford Packer from the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Centre in Ohio

Another example included a pregnant woman who regularly consumed up to three litres a day for the last six years and complained of tiredness, appetite loss and persistent vomiting.

A heart trace revealed she had an irregular heartbeat, probably caused by her low blood potassium levels.

Once she stopped drinking so much cola, she made a full and uneventful recovery.

The investigators believe these cases are not atypical and that many people risk problems due to their intake.

Moderate consumption of cola drinks is completely safe and people can continue to enjoy such drinks as part of a balanced diet and active lifestyle
