Having been reading postings on the forum for about a year now, it makes me wonder, what people like mmmmmm are doing on this forum at all. I thought this forum is about helping people with valuable information, networking, making friends, discussing problems which are vital for the expatriate community, making North Cyprus a better place to live in. Yet some people behave as if they own the forum or the whole island indeed.

mmmmmm seems to sit on the forum 24/7 and considers himself an expert on everything.

Does he really think that the fact that he is married to a foreign national is an achievement on its own and makes him unique on the island that is the melting pot of the Middle East, Western and Eastern Europe?

What makes him think that he is entitled to lecture other people ad nauseum on everything Russian when the both sides of the island have large Russian communities? Cont/-

-/cont….. His dyslexic rants in Russian are pathetic, making him a laughing stock among the people with good command of the language, especially when he has not yet mastered the grammar or punctuation of his own ( all those asterisks and psychotic symbols were in vogue with teenagers about 10 years ago and are not cute or funny). He seems forgot that most Europeans are bilingual or trilingual, very well educated, travel a lot, and politically astute (Dutch Crusader being a very good example)

I suggest that he:

- makes an annual subscription to ‘Economist’ to get a grip on modern world politics from reliable sources;

- buys Oxford English Dictionary, Thesaurus and Grammar;

- learns Russian or Ukrainian.

That will occupy him for a couple of years and will free a lot of space on this forum for the genuine postings, and we will be able to get on with our lives and help each other without the barrage of nonsense.

I hope I will have a support from other members.

Love,

Cla

Excellent post Clarissa. I voiced an opinion on another forum as to whther this guy was on 24/7 and got the usual smart a--- reply. I personally think he ruins a lot of good, informative and interesting topics.

I think that the chap is quite knowlegable on a number of subjects (although infuriating at times) it is good to hear alternative views, otherwise we could all end up thinking that the world is a box of chocolates and there are no problems.

I know that he does seem to have an opinion on everything, but the world is like that and we would probably be better off accepting that not everyone thinks the same as us. It would be a boring old world if they did!

Can't comment on his Russian skills though!

mmmmmm, is quite able to stand his own corner , but i have to say ,it is said all the time on this board you don't have to read his threads , rightly or wrongly he has his opinion just like all of us , you are free to agree or disagree , and to my knowledge he has never resorted to personal comments . As for his Russian it's a hell of a lot better than mine ! a very difficult language i believe . Personal comments like these about members are not really beneficial to the forum .

Have a good sunday , Simbas

Good morning to all my friends.

Border is a legend in his own living room lol and can drive ppl nuts but I agree with simbas, he has never been insulting or rude, not even to me and I have been very rude to him many times, he has my respect for that and I would miss my jousts with him if he didn't post.

MMMMM

gives a different viewpoint from the majority of the forum users and this is not appreciated. Some would love to live in their little bubbles believing all is well and there are absolutely no problems with house purchase in the TRNC and that the GC are responsible for everything that has happened.

Sadly and rightly so, mmmm encourages people to do more research and come to a more balanced and informed view. The happy clappy band don't like this because it makes them sit up and smell the coffee!

mess 1 & 2 - Good on ya Clarissa ! - the Neg Nick post of the week !

I for one think that mmmmmmmm or whatever he calls himself should be banned as all he does is to have a poke at TC's and Brits that have bought in the TRNC.

His reapeated twaddle is tiresome and boring now.

As i have said many times, if i had a missus who looked liked him, i'd be spending all my free time on her, not my computer keyboard....

Mark is a very nice polite chap, just because he questions some of the postings on "44" does not mean he is an antagonist. I know he tries to give a balanced view. I have followed his postings on this & other boards for quite a few years now, he is never rude, but he will fight his corner. He has made me look further into certain things about Cyprus that in the past I took as gospel. As Bradus points out, not everything is perfect in TRNC, but some people do not want to hear this. We were lucky in that our purchase went through almost trouble free but for others this is not the case. By the way he does not sit on here 24/7, he really does have a life away from "44". So my vote goes in favour of 6M's.

But,

i just feel that he is rubbing our nose's in it....

i know we all got led down the garden path to some extent - who the heck after all would buy a house on land that was stolen at gun point ?? - but to be constantly reminded of it, really winds me up......

Must agree with Wicks and Bradus.......whether you agree with mmmmmm or not,you can't deny that he is well informed and helpful...and never resorts to petty insults.

Negativenick...msg 9.."His reapeated twaddle is tiresome and boring now."

Pots and kettles springs to mind here with the ongoing tales of the Mongers.

And Clarissa2......you have been reading for over a year but only just started posting?

It is all too easy to criticise individuals on here....why not contribute your own thought provoking and positive posts as a counter-balance and let people form an opinion about your level of knowledge and integrity.

Resorting to petty personal comments about spelling and grammar is lazy and unnecessary.

Nick having meet you & your very attractive but miserable missus. I know that you are not as negative as you make out. Mark does not get involved in a thread that he knows nothing about, a thing that a lot of other members are more than happy to do. And yes, sometimes this does feel like he is rubbing our noses in it, but at the end of the day it is up to everyone to make the best of it.

I also enjoy mmmmmm banter. He clearly has the ability to trawl the tinternet and pass his findings onto some of the less informed. There are however many educated and very well informed members that mmmmm sekks to shot down in flames over even the most trvial point. No point in my book for this stance.

It does take some time to digest his posts because of his very mixed up structural content and punctuation.

"rump" what is this? bi-lingual place names...what point is this? Do we all really need to stoop to a lesser level than he based upon this knowledge. His condescending manner is often irritating and his continual historical banter and reference to past events serve no real purpose when current issues are under discussion.

I have often asked that he brings solutions to political debates rather than ridicule and contra quote on many trivial issues.

If he would change the structure of his posts slightly and bring some legitimate comment and opinion then thats progress.

The only trouble with mmmmmm is that you can never get a word in edgeways...only kidding mmmmmm!

You don't have to agree with him, but he is sincere in his views and his love of Cyprus - and has taken the time to do much research.

If we all felt the same way about things, life (and cyprus44) would be pretty dull; don't knock the man just because he has alternative views to you. Believe me, he has not been shy to air his views about the 'Rump', sorry I mean the ROC, in the past.

Hi there,

When I first started posting I guess I was taken back by mmmmmm's view points which he never sought to hide.

What I would say is that he is very up to speed on the issues he responds too. He has his opinions and they are as valid as everyone elses although they are contrary to many people's opinions who post on here.

If you carefully read his stuff...he challenges but I have never found him to be rude about anyone who has a different viewpoint. He is extremely well read and passionate about his beliefs and I respect him for that.

I have far more issues with those who name call and scaremonger(nothing to do with Gary and his missus) and are rude and insulting to people. Who knows what impact that type of behaviour may have indirectly on a person who might be living on their own and have no one to turn to!

These people bring out the worst in everyone and I feel that there is no place on this forum for them.

But for mmmmmm..He should stay with us.

I agree with most of the positive remarks towards all the m's. He has a good knowledge of the Cyprus situation and stands his ground when questioned. His overuse of punctuation and the use of various characters to emphasise his point can be off putting but overall I enjoy his posts. He is never rude and will also join in with a joke even if it is about him. Just the type if poster we need on here.

He's probably too embarrassed to respond now. Or he's taken notice of Nicks earlier post and is a bit busy to respond. ))

I have been reading mmmm's posts for some time now. I may not always agree with what he says but that is what makes these boards interesting to read. He's never rude, unlike some people and I would miss his point of view if he chose not to post here anymore.

Dee, he has been insulting and rude in the past but then again, so have I. His posts are more adult and restrained now (mine too ). He is a very intelligent fellow and takes the GC stand (he will argue - the International stand) on all matters. He used to drive me nuts but he has calmed down a lot - think he wants to move here eventually!

I've never known anyone fundamentally change their viewpoint on here based on opposing points of view, so I tend not to get involved anymore. Que sera sera, as they say.

Dear Clarissa2

Allow me to respond - firstly welcome to the board !

1/ My Russian - it's B awful but normally it raises a laugh -amongst Russian speakers.

I'm not ( in case you hadn't noticed) a "shrinking violet" and I'm not going to stop trying, or change for you sorry ...!

"Large Russian Communities" in "north" Cyprus..?! I guess that must explain all the Russian lang newspapers, radio stations, food shops on the Bogaz(i) strip ?!

2/ Luckily, I passed my English O levels some time ago, so I don't feel I need to be judged by you re my posting style ...sorry..

3/ References to my marriage ( from me ) have been concerning Visa issues and how we met ( to Lilli, also) - you guys lost me here.. May be you are confusing me with N.Nick - her greatest fan .. ;)

Clarissa, it is posters like you - with nothing to do, other than to personally attack those with differing views - that (IMHO) ruin boards...

I look forward to your offering substantiated retorts in future.

>>He clearly has the ability to trawl the tinternet and pass his findings onto some of the less informed <<

Even if it was my only source - which of course it isn't.. it would be great - if you took some of it on board ;) Your recent "surprise" at TR's IPC increasing it's pay outs for loss of use - to "appease" the ECHR - is a case it point .

"Rump" as in the bit of RoC left after 74 .. very clear, inoffensive to most, politically.. What is your problem with the term ?!

Bi-lingual place names ? WHAT ever is the problem with that?! Cyprus is a bilingual island

>>I have often asked that he brings solutions to political debates rather than ridicule and contra quote on many trivial issues. <<

..and I note you never respond when I ask "what have you to offer?" I am favour of an Annan - like solution..

It is clear that you seem to think "TRNC" is the soln.. I believe it is the VERY thing giving GCs a legal stick to beat TCs..

i really must say that, dear mmmmmm is not rude ( he gives as good as he gets ) and although our point of view is 90% opposite he has the right to his opinion as we all do. infact, i would much rather argue with him than my girl friend as i can get a word in edge ways. come to think of it i don't think there is anybody else on this site i'd rather argue with.

No-one should be banned except for using unacceptable language.

6m's posting style may be abrasive and I mostly disagree with his views but he has every right to express them. As an apologist for all things Greek Cypriot and usually to the detriment of North Cyprus he has no equal. But his trenchant views are as valid as anyone else's.

The same applies to Clarrissa2. But one shouldn't ban something just because one dislikes it.

>>an apologist for all things Greek Cypriot and usually to the detriment of North Cyprus<<

I see you pay close attention to my posts... NOT.. :-0

Let me see, RoC implimentation of residency rights, the deeds farce, the now deceased Presidents promises to win a better deal for GCs than Annan... "mistakes" in their foreign policy dealings re TCs post Annan.. unfairness to TCs wishing to return to their properties - six months "residency rule"... poor treatment of TCs when land compulsorily purchased..
