Not being a spoil sport as I'm sure this is genuine but don't forget that at the airport you will be asked "has anyone given you anything to carry for them?".

I'm not sure if I would be happy in this predicament as I would want to help but at the same time would be worried about what I would be carrying in my baggage. Hopefully the orthopedic trainers will come in a packet that you are happy with.

I don't want you to have sleepless nights, so relax, I'll find someone who is prepared to do the business.

Loslobos, Please do not misunderstand if you know each other then I would assume you would have no worries if not can't you arrange to have the trainers sent by mail?

Would you be happy if you were on the flight and did not know what was under your backside, that protection for staff and travellers is what all this seemingly excessive security at airports is all about.

This is SO simple.. I have brought stuff for folk to CY.. When asked by check in staff if you have been asked to carry stuff for someone, or packed your stuff - answer yes / no - truthfully - as appropriate.

You will be asked to have it x-rayed and may be inspected - it is checked, and Tom's concern re safety is alleviated !

So, you have to allow a little longer at check-in... kills some time ;)

Tom,

Having flown from Birmingham and Manchester several times with CTA I have NEVER been asked the basic questions of security at Check In.

2 Weeks ago I flew from Manchester to Amsterdam via London Heathrow with British Airways and again I was never asked the question, but then again I never actually spoke to a person. Checked in online and issued with a boarding card by a machine.

The same thing happened last Monday when I went to Budapest with Ryanair from East Midlands Airport. Never saw a sole.

I think they only really do the formalities these days if a TV camera crew are around!

Anyway talking of security, when I worked for Burger King at Birmingham Airport airside, if a staff member forgot their swipe card badge that shortcutted them to airside they would just borrow one from the Burger King unit on the land side. There was never routine checks of badges to ensure the person wearing it matched the photo on the ID.

Hi TC, re msg 10

I guess you must then go through a manual check in and TELL them you didn't pack your bags / carrying something for a friend..

I have brought TVs, surf boards, White powder - (some special sort of glue ! ) for friends - and always declared it at check-in..never an issue

For many years I have (always) been asked that question among others like have I had any electrical goods repaired recently etc. (If I am asked to buy something to bring over [which often happens] or asked to carry anything I would be unsure if it was from somone I did not know very well.)

mmmmmm - a man after my own heart in this concern.

Timothy - There will be normally be notices to ask you those questions and if you are not sure then go to a manual check in.

As I said I (and many others) would be far happier on what is still one of the safest ways to travel knowing that it might be safer still.

If you declare something to the person at check in you will be told to unload it and not take it and if you fail to comply then you will not be checked in and be flying that day, or until you meet the critera set by the airlines and legal regulations.

Don't even make a joke of it either by saying "No I didn't" as it's as bad as saying "I'm carrying a bomb".
