Hi all.

Can anyone recommend a good flea powder for two 8 week old kittens please, The pet shop sold me Bio Kill which is absolutely rubbish. Also id like to get them nutered (females) at what age do they have to be, and roughly, how much does it cost? Their mother fell pregnant when she was only 8 months old, i thought a cat had to be a year so i dont want to make the same mistake again.

Hi,

rather than Flea Powder, I would suggest Frontline - the spray is available from pharmacies, or the drop type from the vets.

The drops seem to be longer lasting - particularly against ticks.

Neutering (males) and Spaying (Females) used to be done at 6 months, but it is now accepted that there are no adverse effects from doing it at a younger age, Vet's preferences may vary however!

Generally, Males should have reached a weight of at least 3 lbs, and females 3.5 to 4.0 lbs.

Thank you Keith, thats the second time you have helped me. lol i think i should have used the word ''spaying'' instead of ''neutering'' sorry. The sites were really helpful, I will get Frontline for the fleas and will get in touch with Pertev soon.
