A friend of mine had a camera shipped to him in NC by courıer. The camera costs aproximately $400 but was got at a clear out sale for $150. apart from having to go to the post office to collect this package he was charged 200TL as import tax. this doesnt feel right and i think he was ripped off.. anybody know of how the tax of goods shipped by courier are calculated, and any ideas on couriers that deliver to you door.. Thanks

Whatever method of carriage you use (unless concealed as part of luggage etc.), such items will be intercepted and assessed by customs. Don't know how the rates are calculated though, I've had expensive items that cost me all of 35 kuruş to clear customs...

I thinks it normally 30 % import tax etc and then there will be the 16 % KDV on the amount to pay

i always order books and cd's from amazon. i haven't ever had to pay tax on them, maybe it was the value which made it taxable?
