The latest shock report is that our Cod and Chips from the local Chippy may not even be Cod!

A new white fish has hit the shelves....Vietnamese River Cobbler. The difference being in price. Cobbler is less than half the cost of Cod and to the untrained eye looks just like Cod.

The biggest shock is that in blind tests Cobbler was the prefered fish for taste.

So watch out that you're not being Cod prices for a cheaper alternative.

And I'll make the joke before someone else does......This story is NOT a load of Cobblers!!!

lets hope we don't start eating this cheap crap, just because it's better than the expensive crap that we were brought up on. Remember, we are English, we demand the right to pay through the nose for recognised crap.

Actually I have bought it (smoked) from Asda and it is really quite tasty with new potatoes and peas. Give it a try you will be pleasantly surprised.

They shouldn't pass it off as cod in Fish & Chip shops though, as this is an infringent of the Trades Descriptions Act.

But as I don't frequent these nasty establishments ever, I won't be conned. LOL

Vietnamese River Cobbler is a great tasting fish, but it tastes quite different from cod, so I don't see how anyone cannot tell the difference!

Oh Jock that is really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

being Scots Salmon is my prefered choice of fish, my friend brought 2 sides of smoked salmon across last year it was yummy, and all of a sudden we had friends at the villa day and night, now I wonder why that was?

I have River cobbler at least once a week, the smoked variety is very tasty and a lot cheaper than Haddock or Cod, however (I don't know if it's just the smoked) it has a definite different texture to Cod or Haddock.
