hello all, i have just had an email from the builder that i have to pay an emlak vergisi tax to the belly daisy, i checked the web and it is some form of property tax, i have just returned from trnc, after paying stamp duty,lodging contract, putting electric and water in my name, etc etc, does anyone have any info?, i have the keys, but not the kocan, and house is currently empty. thanks all, fishnchips.

Hi could i ask what deposit you had to play for electric ? and did you have to have a Guarantor ?

emlak vergi is a sort of council tax which is normally payable to the council

hi pipie, i stumped up the 540ytl, a nice guy in the kibtec office girne, explained it had been brought in because of the number of people who did not live full time in trnc not paying or keeping up to date with electric payments, he stressed it was not only swallows but also many students, workers, temps,ect, and although he did not agree with it personally, rules is rules, but if i had a trnc resident to sign guarantor i could pay the normal rate, my builder had not paid any bill since connection,and i had been cut off, so i paid the bill, put it in my name,and was not charged the 30ytl reconnection fee, power back on within 24 hrs.

thanks ukturk, i will find a way to pay it maybe get one of my lovely nieghbors to do it. cheers fishnchips.
