Can anyone give a home to two really lovely female puppies? They are about twelve weeks old and as far as we can make out are Rhodisian Ridgebacks (will send photo if you provide email address). We found them while we were in the TRNC we took them to the rescue centre but after discussing them with the staff there, it was agreed that they had a better chance with us. We have built a very large compound for them and they get fed watered and walked every day by friends of ours. We have looked into bringing them back to the UK but this is not practicable really. They have been wormed had given their first two jabs and we have paid the vet the money to complete their full innoculations. They come free of charge with a brand new kennel and all innoculations paid for. All we ask is that they are cared for, they are great fun and need a family.

Have a look at the sticky the DaisyDukes has on the forum. You might just get some help there.

This was on the forum a week ago. We emailed Carol asking where pups were being kept so that we could have a look at them. We have a female Boerboel (similar to a Ridgeback) and could have offered a home to certainly one or even possibly both pups. Carol didn't even bother to get back to us so wonder if this is a serious post.

Hi, I am sorry that you did not get a reply from me but I only received one email regarding the puppies and that was asking if they were male or female. We are very keen to find a home for these puppies. I am a dog groomer in the UK and love animals. Trying to get them back to the UK is not really ideal due to cost and quarantine. My husband and I are out of the UK three months of the year so we decided not to have any dogs when our one died a couple of years ago. We have spent over £200 on the dogs so far on innoculations and a new kennel and are currently paying £160.00 per month for them to be cared for in Malatya, so this is no hoax! Taht said we will continue to do so until we can find a good home for them or if that is not possible we will bring them back to the Uk, not ideal but better than the alternative. If anyone can provide a loving home for the puppies please email me and I will provide you with a contact number so you can see them.

Hello Larry, I sent you an email telling you that the puppies were female, I am sorry if you did not receive it. I was waiting to hear back from you before arranging for you to see the puppies. I have been worried about letting people know exactly where the puppies are as I have heard awful reports about poisoning of dogs. It would be difficult for you to take one of the puppies as they seem so reliant on each other. I would have to find a home for either both of them or two homes who would take them on the same day. I would not want to leave one on it's own while looking for a home. If you email me again I will give you Mike's contact number.

Hi All. Firstly have tried to contact Mike but been unable to get him so far. Will try again later.

Sorry Daisy Dukes for not being there this morning but been on e.mail to Carol regarding the pups. Hopefully we will be able to see them soon and if Willow is okay with them bring them both home with us some time this week.

Thankyou Keith for posting pics which we have now received by e.mail from Carol.

Will keep you all posted on the outcome.

Hello Larry

pleased to hear you have now been able to get hold of Mike. Once you have seen the pups, whatever the outcome please could you let everyone know if we were right about them being Ridgebacks. In the UK Ridgeback puppies are being sold at £1000, if you are lucky enough to find them. In the TRNC they are being kicked out on the streets. Strange world!

Regards

Carol

Hi there

Lovely photos - lovely dogs! They do look like Ridgebacks but could poss. have bit of GSD/Lab in them too maybe? (difficult to tell!!) Hope all works out OK for them. It is a really tough situation in the TRNC with all the strays - such a great shame. So tempting to bring them all back to UK - but there is a bad situation in UK too with rescue dogs at the moment - sure it's to do with the 'credit crunch'. We too have a Boerboel (was told he cost £5,000 as a pup - but was 'left' at the kennels in the UK!! Unbelieveable!). Also have a Chihuahua/JR-X found 'playing with the traffic' in Hackney High St!! And we had 14 dogs brought in by RSPCA recently - all found in a tiny, filthy London flat. People have brought back strays from Cyprus (+ other countries) before for 're-homing' in the UK - but it is hard to get funding for covering costs - particularly vets fees! People in the UK aren't keen to pay charity for strays brought in from overseas unfortunately.

Good luck

Hi EricaJ. Silly thing to put prices of pedigree dogs on the forum, there are probably plently of people who read this that may stoop low enough to think that our dog would be a good kidnap to be held to ransom. Anyone foolish enough to try would indeed be a very sorry person as people that live near us know exactly what they would be up against. However, am pleased to hear that you have rescued a Boerboel and hope you are happy with him. Also, whoever told you he cost £5,000 was not telling you the truth. We bought our first Boerboel 7 years ago when they were first introduced to the UK and there were less than 50 in the country. I can assure you and anyone else reading this that they have never cost £5,000. They were originally £1500 for a female and £1300 for a male but now that they have become more popular are sold for considerably less.

Hello Larry, thanks for email I am sorry to hear you are unable to take the puppies on but undestand what a large commitment it is, I thought I would bring people up to date with events in the hope of finding a solution.

If I can't find a home for the puppies in the TRNC, I will try and bring them to them to the UK without the need to quarantine them. If anyone can find a home for them that would be wonderful if not can anyone care for them for the next four months while we complete the inoculation programme? We will continue to pay for their food ,vet bills etc. there are pictures of the puppies in the forum.

carol those lovely puppies i believe are kangal, possibly cross with something, i had a kangal bitch and she looked just like that when she was young.

please if you can find a home for just one take it, don't hold out for them to go together.

my friend did a similar thing last year and couldn't find a home for the two she had taken in. finally she agreed to let one go alone to a new home, but she is still looking for a home for the other dog.

if you need help getting them into the uk check out dave at pine farm kennels based in mildenhall suffolk, i know him personally and he is very good at what he does.

good luck!

Hi Carol

Just read your message no. 24 - just want to tell you that you will require 6-months quarantine in the UK if they come 'direct' from TRNC (even if innoculations up-to-date for required 6 months) - TRNC is not a recognised EU country yet and not part of the pet passport scheme in the UK. If you want them to come direct and not do quarantine, you will need to get them to the south and have someone look after them there, as the south IS recognised as part of pet passport scheme. Please e-mail Kim at kim@londonandessex.demon.co.uk for clarification of this (or check out http://www.lekf.co.uk - links to pet passport scheme regulations on website) - or pick up quarantine brochure from KAR. Even if you have all the paperwork, inoculations, micro-chips etc etc done to required standards, there is still a risk of them 'failing' on entry to UK (it does happen!) - or airline losing the paperwork in transit (that happens too). Please be aware of pitfalls .. sorry - but do be careful!
