I like 'Alternative ways'. A euphemism for annexing TRNC? I hope so and not before time! Richard

Just get the feeling that the battle lines are being drawn. The GC' will resist a referendum until they are sure of a yes vote. They dare not risk another'no' otherwise it will be the end of their quest to recover the whole island

Just a thought but would it not of been a good idea to have found out what the majority of Cypriots north and south wanted before they started the talks.

i say annex it soon as possible, you have to be blind to not see annexation as the only feasible outcome. im sick of saying on hear the talks are a sham, history will tell our grand children that they tried thro mediation but failed due to huge differences to unite the island. i think the big players behind the scenes like Ankra the US have know this is the end result for many many months.

richard, having been one of those wondering about ncyp being absorbed into turkey I never ever thought it would happen at a particular moment, but simply be be a continuing and very gradual process born of necessity... dobbo, something I have always argued: at least have some sort of framework agreed beforehand or don't bother, haggling bazaar-style will never work the magic that is why we should not be surprised that it's all fading away anyhow on balance I would be in favour of an agreement with the south although: firstly there is no sign of compromise whatsoever, so no deal in prospect obviously secondly some of those "talking up" the chances are I suspect often doing this for "other reasons" thirdly there are one or two viable alternatives or the status quo can continue regardless
