Paid my electricity bill this morning again got short changed by 3Krs, so the running tally is now 23Krs. At this rate they'll be able to afford a can of beer for my stocking filler come Christmas time!!

Richard,

It is not possible for the bank to pay you the exact change because there is no 1 kr. coin available. So they can only under or over pay you but not the exact amount. Of course you know all that. Why don't you do as I do: if my bill is say for 48.52 TL, I pay 50 TL and the payment is recorded as such. That means Kib-tek or whatever owes me 1.48 TL and it is shown on the next bill and is taken into account. Of coursee I am an engineer and used to work out solutions rather than complain

Credit West computer system does not allow it credit utility bills. It can only pay what is owed.

Oh my god, what a sad world, when people have actually got time to complain about such trivial matters, hope you don,t get any serious problems in life.

Richard

I am over again next week if the petrol doesnt cost you too much pop up to Bahceli and I will give you 30kr and put you in profit!

Creditwest isnt anywhere near as good as the Yorkshire Penny Bank used to be! I will tell Sukru when I see him what a proper bank used to be like.

A lor of people over here live on a small pension with no other income, so if they have to make every penny count it is not a trivial matter to them.

re message 3

there are 1kr coins you just don't see many of them. i hate being short changed too and the only bills you can pay more on in the bank seem to be the mobile phone bills. if it's on the computer as 50.02 then that's what they can pay against. i have even been to kib tek and they didn't take the extra money! what i do is put all my small change in a bottle and when my bills come round i add them altogether and take the small change from my bottle that way i pay the exact amount and to avoid the same happening in shops i use my credit card. in the uk if they don't have a penny change they will normally give you 2p. here it can be as much as 25kr and it all adds up.

Denise,

I always pay Kib-tek and Belediye in round figures, always rounded up and I can see it on my receipt. Next time you go to Kib-tek insist that you pay a higher rounded figure. If you are firm enough with civil servants they will bother to learn what they do not know. It always works with me. They can sense from the tone of your voice when you mean business.

We always rounded up our cash payments to Kib-Tek to the next whole Lira and the same for the Belediye on the water bill, so we were never more than 99krs in credit to either of them.

With the supermarkets we always used a credit card regardless of the amount spent. Every month the exact amount would be withdrawn from our current account and so we didn't lose any money. Don't forget taht the use of Debit and Credit Cards means that it's the supermarket making the lose as they only get 97% of the transaction. The other 3% goes to the administrating bank as a fee for the privilege of being able to offer credit facilities.

Brinsley we are sorry you feel that way that we "fobbed you off" so to speak but we did give you the opportunity to air your opinions and you chose to ask us about sponsoring holidays for account holders which we do not do, the alternative would be using our Cardplus credit card to build up points and obtain a free ticket to Turkey or use the installments options available at designated travel agents where the Cardplus sign is displayed.

I have arranged with the branch manager to have .50 kuruş thats .20 kuruş with interest paid to you today and hope this will help close this matter once and for all as I tried to explain it is not our policy to short change anyone quite the reverse.

As for coffee apologies as we were on a tight timetable and just did not have much time but as you yourself expressed during our meeting you prefer more of the strong stuff.

Brinsley Im not sure what you are trying to do here but our system does allow for overpayment of your bills which goes onto your account as a credit. So for example if your bill is 51.50 and you pay 52 you will get credited the .50 kuruş, if you are not seeing this on your belediye statement you should go and complain to them directly.

I have spoken to the staff at the branch who are very upset and disappointed about your complaints as they try very hard to provide you with customer service even after they close the doors of the bank. Turan especially tries to provide you with specific clarification yet you are not happy with our service. We do not short change anyone as it is not our policy, they have even offered you more than was due to you exactly as I did with the refund of .50 kuruş, yet you still persist with your posts.

msg. 15

CeditwestRep,

Please don't get upset with me but I could not let this mistake pass. Fifty Kuruş is either expressed as 50 kr. or 0.50 TL. As you expressed it in the above message, .50 kr is just half a kr and not 50. Of course you know all this and we can all be careless with such minor things at times but I wanted to put the record straight. Sorry, its the bloody engineer in me again

I have also always had a top rate service from Creditwest, far better service than is usually obtainable in UK banks.

Thanks Creditwest (Catilkoy branch).

I think all local businesses should set up an early 'Brinsley' warning alert. Much like the shop alerts they have in the UK.

Sorry Richard but you don't get my sympathy on this one.

Like I said in message 8, trivial . I remember being charged 75P. in the UK about 4 years ago to pay a utilities bill in a bank, and i wasn,t able to enjoy the interest rates we get here. Let,s keep it positive, how about the fantastic cheap fruit , veg, local produce, Drink, Fags, Petrol, cheaper than the UK, how about all the other times you go into shops and they round it down to your favour, and my sister in UK tells me she,s sick of the rain and having the heating on, etc. etc. I feel that to come on this forum to complain about the equivelant to approx, just over half a pence is pathetic, and unfortunatlley it gets us all labelled as whinging Brits, and message 10, I dont think 3krsh would affect anyones pension, and if it does then how are they going stack up financially when they try to renew their residency, Yes I must also compliment Credit West on there service,

What an excellent discussion on what appears to be a trivial matter regarding 3 Krs and even a reply by a representative of the bank concerned. Never been known!

This is the bank for us and as soon as we are able our account will be with Creditwest.

Thank you Mr Brinsley for your O.P. for without you we may never have found this bank.

What little, precious, insular, shallow people you are! If you read the first posting correctly (of course only applies to the few that can), the whole posting was 'tongue and cheek' as if I'm really that worried.Certainly got some of you going and even managed to find the Bank a new customer!
