Belatedly - in fact just now - my husband has realied his passport expired this April! Now what?? Where do we get forms from, where do we go etc etc Not a lot of good giving me road directions in Nicosia as I dont drive there! Can we begin the process here at the BRS hut or what? Any upbeat suggestions welcome - he doesnt want to be thrown out, but obviouslyit is a matter of urgency Its at times like this something happens and you need your passport! Residency is ok til January!

You will need to go to nicosia, which is where British Consulate is.But dont panic about getting there, its very simple to find it

Ring me up on 05338739181,when you ready and I'll tell you how to get there. Its pretty straight forward and not right inside Nicosia

You can download the forms on the internet. http://ukincyprus.fco.gov.uk/en/passports/passport-forms

Then you need to get passport photos taken - any photographer will do them.

Then you need to get it coutersigned by a professional person.

Then you do have to go to Nicosia to the British Counsel. I went yesterday to renew mine & it was an easy process. However you have to pay in Euros - €152. They say that it will be ready within 2 weeks.

Thanks Yorgozlu - but do we get the forms etc there - will it be sensible to get his photo taken here first etc etc We have some p/port photos which still look like him, but I believe theyve changed the requirements since.

May as well do it right first time, then we'll be ready for when mine expires!

Go to Shakespeare Ave. Nicosia (TRNC) to pick up the form, I'm allowed to countersign the photo and fill the relevant section. Dead easy. In fact it can be done on the spot if I accompany you. Email me if you need further help.

Msg 8

One of the few benefits of holding a personal licence when the law changed 5 years ago. Another revenue raising scam by Messrs Blair & Brown!

Brinsley - thank you so much - in fact thank you everyone - I wont say I was panicing - But.... So I go and get his photo taken then may I contact you, (Richard?) - I will drive if I have a navigator. We live at Alsancak. We could probably get photos tomorrow and could go over early next week? - Friday is never a good day here I find for doing things with civil or uncivil servants. Can I have your e mail address or phone number? I am really grateful for the help.

mamachina, the photos should not be more than a month old. I work for the Identity & Passport Service, so I will ignore the fact Richard is going to countersign your photographs. Get it done quick the go up on the 4th September.

For what it is worth, the signing of the photos does not need a 'professional' as I had mine signed by a friend that I have known for over 3 years. They are happy as long as somebody countersigns the application form as well as the photos.

AJ. The countersignatory list that the IPS use will include teachers, doctors, people who have their own company i,e. taxi company, they must have a British passport. This point being the most important, they do cross check.

I am not sure if you need to counter sign if you are renewing for an adult. You only need to counter signature if there has been lots of changes since the previous picture when it was taken from my understanding.

Mess 14, you are correct, if you have not altered then you do not need a countersignatory.

You do NOT need to have your photos signed if you take them to the Consulate in the North and hand them in yourselves.

Brinsley, I have mentioned this before in a thread where you posted a comment. I only mention this because, you do not need to put yourself out, (very nice though it is).
