I clicked on the link you gave but am still confused as to who the handsome one is. Can you give us some more clues please its not that easy

Rocky welcome back. The roof terraces are a problem on some apartments (2 bed), when you are coming back down the stairs if you slip and fall it is highly likely you will fall over the barrier at the bottom and to the ground I would think this is a serious issue that needs resolved on all the affected apartment as a matter of urgency before something serious happens.

With regards your comments re electric & water usage in our absence, do you no something??

Andy- I've looked at the link. I can clearly see Igor [Baron Frankenstein's crazed and deformed assistant] and Quasimodo [the Hunchback of Notre Dame], but where the hell are you??

N4Me message 4 ..I know nothing except that on a development in Spain where I owned a villa my apartment garden tap tended to be used by various people to water their own gardens. Hednce I paid for it. I do intend to fit a locking tap on mine. Also on that development there was misuse of electricity by one or two of the keyholders and it was implied that one partment was wired using electricity form another on some of the property. I know nothing of this on SWB. If we are out there I will certanly email others with meter readings if they want.

I'm working on the principle that Andy [SWB] will have dvds that I can play. As regards "Northern Soul" , I'm quite happy that my i-pod only has rock'n'roll, and will only ever have this. I know it's a culture thing and tekknochicken & I will have to deal with Rocky's absurd scooter fetish. I'm not concerned about Andy's 22" as opposed to my 19" as long as he can get the footie, and Susan will be serving cans of Efes.

I am sure there will be loads of us that can do swap/borrows or library for both DVD's and books etc between us. We have a tv and seperate dvd as we also thought about the integrated ones maybe failing. Both Ipod's are full of all kinds of music, audio books, podcasts, yoga and Davina workouts but maybe I will do the gym when out there as it will be air conditioned and loads of swimming.

we set up a 'swap library' on our site for DVD's and books obviously runs on trust we have a collection box for donations that we give to the local school - a jesture of goodwill ! allocated bookshelf space in the Gym for all to access, works well

yes I am out before you and already back as far as I remember yours was fitted out,, if you have standard white goods they are all the same. Sam, do you know the difference between a dishwasher and a washing machine if so your are clever, I bet u have small feet so you can get near the sink.Anyway the wash machine instructions even in english dont really follow the machine indicates it is on a 4 hour delay, silly I think really but the wife worked it out after guidance form Connie.

Never mind putting the fridge on make sure you put it off before you leave,

We have family staying at our apartment at the moment and when we were over in April we left some food in the freezer for them so they had something when they arrived.............Big mistake..............There had been power cuts and it had tripped the main breaker when the power came back on.

So instead of arriving to food in the freezer they arrived to maggots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not a nice start to your holiday.

Anyway a huge thanks to Andy & Connie for all their assistance in helping them sort it out. Above and beyond their job description.

Andy, have a great time. It's likely to be hot, so don't stress yourself. I would recommend that Susan brings you numerous Efes whilst you put your feet up. If there's a power cut, get Alex to fan you with a large towel !!

We always use Baspinar cheap and cheerful http://www.baspinar-rentals.com/rentacar_prices.php meet you at Ercan from your flight and you drop the car back there when you leave. They will also pick you up from Larnaca for a fee and then hand over the car.

You could always ask your hotel to sort out a pick up fro you then get your hire car deleivered to the hotel the next day etc.

sam b you only need a small taxi if you are 5ft 5inches you could try Serhan if you rent a car from him he discounts the taxi fare +905428592875 we had a seven seater for 8 days only £240 and a £50 each way in a 7 seater taxi. He even stopped at a supermarket for us on the way back from Lanarca. Be careful in the sun it will bleach out your hair colourant and show the grey (or ginger)

Hi Sheila/Phil,

Yes love to, put us down for two tickets with a sea view.

I'm sitting by the computer and I'm surrounded by things that are coming out to NC, I don't think the plane will be able to take off !

Every bedroom has piles of stuff, it's a health and safety hazard walking round my house at the moment.

I've been told yet again there will be no room for my clothes in the suitcases.

I think every trip out for a while I'm going to be doing an imitation of Sherpa Tenzing .

I have seen the e-mails circulating between RMS and the self appointed owners representatives. Just a few comments:

1) I don't understand the technical issues about the chemical balance of the pools, but I had no complaints when we visited in June. If anyone has a justifiable complaint, wouldn't it be better to go to the office, and only if after a couple of attempts, the problem is not resolved, bring it to the attention of owners?

2) How have we got so many experts on pool maintenance? I'm not!!

3) There seem to be two stories.Visitors to SWB appear to come back with very positive feedback on both the site and SWB/RMS. Others [almost exclusively permanent residents] appear to have a very different view. I'd say visit yourself and make up your own minds.

4) I may be wrong, but it also appears that the critics of SWB/RMS don't pay their management fees. My view is that if they don't pay the fees, they aren't in a position to criticise, and out of honour shouldn't use the facilities

Arthur I too am disappointed that some owners are taking the P by not paying management fees. Where can you get such facilities for £50 a month or so with unlimted usage. Those not paying are actually steeling from those of us who have paid. I think we should paint a big red spot on the properties of those who have not paid. A list of non payers should also be publshed in the office window and in any newsletters. The south west of england is not the most expensive area to live and gym fees down here are about £60 a month providing a pool and a gym without the other facilities. (and no sunshine and they dont maintain the public areas around somerset) Some of the email exchanges have been very personal and unprofessional. We have no choice but to live with RMS and we can review the matter later. It could well be that RMS would be approached by another complex where there are major issues. Then what do we do....

Rocky, I worried that your silence/absence was due to the present Mrs R having taken her revenge for your serial dalliances with Julia Roberts, Jordan etc etc.

I think SWB/RMS have been too lenient, and the very least should name and shame those not paying, although I would far prefer action for recovery [with the miscreant having to pay the legal costs]. You're right that they are effectively stealing from those who pay; it seems perverse that the complaints are in inverse proportion to those paying management charges.

When you're next out there, PLEASE PLEASE be careful when using the pool- it would be a shame if your hair went a funny colour!!! When I'm next over, I may be hiring a Saracen armoured car !!

arthur my silence has been due to catching up on the businesses after the 9 day break in NC. Also we are sharing childcare ''smy turn 2day. Also car hunting I am bored having had my clk 3 years I need to change Im often on the Autotrader website but this often lists cars that are already sold its a bit frustrating. Mines parked up outside with a for sale note stuck on it. I get this urge to change to a newer model from time to time!! JOrdan is not my type rather keen on Beyonce now but cant find her on facebook..Hopefully Andy will report back on SWB soon. Was hoping to get out in October with the boys but they say they wont come without mummy so not sure whether October is an option now.

just a quick one before i go over to swb for the first time woooo!!! i will be paying the rms fees when i arrive there for the full year ahead , so far i will be ther for four days this month and perhaps a week or two in oct.nov if i am lucky..... i dont see how people can feel its right to live on site but not pay this fee!! Especially whilst people like myself and many others on this site, who will not be able to have the full advantage of 24/7 usage of the facilities are paying this without grumbling!!!

some people just want everything for nothing, and will prob end up costing us honest , fair people more money!

If so, can I remind you of the £50 you borrowed last time is saw you? [you mentioned something about needing the money to buy a "rampant rabbit"]

Just had calls from Sam Blaney and Andy and Sue, Andy and Sue are listening to the waves sitting on their patio drinking efes. Sam is really pleased with her apartment and says she is a happy bunny and the site is gorgous.

Someone is going to take a photo of my spa soon hopefully and then I too will be a happy bunny

Sheila, I'm really pleased to hear positive responses from people who are now on site and give their honest opinions. I have my own views on the detractors from SWB and what their agenda is, but have simply asked those who stay at SWB to express their own views, uninfluenced by either viewpoint.

You can be assured that I am more than willing to add "the jacuzzi effect" to your spa whenever asked. I just hope that you won't have previously swum in the SWB pools as I am not convinced that green hair will be complementary to your skin type!!

I guess we're all waiting for Andy F's return.

1) Hope they had a great anniversary

2) Hope they found the site, and Sir Geoffrey Hurst Mansions in particular up to their expectations

3) Hope there won't be too many sleeps to their next visit.

4) Hope Susan wasn't bored rigid by "tales of old anglers"

5) Hope Andy left some cans of Efes for me

Hi Rocky,

No, it was a lot more to do with dis-jointed thinking!! and the fact I was talking to myself

I dread it in the strong sun as my hair ends up a different colour so I always leave it alone until we get back then re dye it.

I started a thread about what to do for winter when closing up a house in NC and I am more confused than ever now.

Heres hoping my snagging list has been attended to, if not its going to be a busy first few days. I have had a message to say I have a concete base and a hot tub but no decking as yet etc so with a week to go I hope that gets finished.

Kids are really excited now as the last time they saw C41 it was just a flag in the dirt.

Arthur whats with the butterflies?

Sheila, you'd understand if you saw "All Quiet on the Western Front".

The film is the story of the disillusionment of young German soldiers in WW1. In the last scene, the main character [a German soldier] is at the front and sees a butterfly trapped. He stretches out to release the butterfly and in doing so gives a French sniper a target, who promptly shoots him. It's all a bit symbolic. I believe Erich Remarque, the German who wrote the book had to flee Germany before WW2 as his anti war book didn't find favour with Charles Chaplin's understudy who was at that time the Chancellor !!

RMS are keen for a owners association to be set up so a smooth running site can be the end result.

I'm out from Monday 17th August for two weeks (kids at home).

My wife's done most of the packing, good job I left some things out there from my last visit.

Though what's been said about mothballs, I might have a few string vests in the wardrobe.

See whose ever out there then.

Andy/Rocky/et al

I have been accused before of wanting to set up my own "owners committee" [SWB 7, msg 151], which was a bit rich by those who send round complaint e-mails, copying in large numbers as if they represent them.

I e-mailed SWB about the situation two weeks ago, and have not yet had a reply. In my opinion, it is unacceptable from both a financial and moral point of view for there to be a group of non payers whilst all others pay. For the non payers to then use the facilities on a daily basis undermines any ethical standing they may consider they have. One then has to consider what is the objective of scaremongering e-mails to all and sundry, although I think the reasons should be obvious.

As far as I am concerned, we have issues to address:

1) How the views of all the owners [not just residents] can be expressed so that the site is run in a manneracceptable to the vast majority. No one [whether resident or non resident] has a greater say TBC

!) [continued] In fact, those who feel they have a "bigger investment" are the very people not paying the management charges!!

2) As a group, we need to know what remedies are available to RMS as our management company [or failing that, us as the other owners] to enforce payment. At the very least, the people concerned should be named and shamed, but I would far prefer vigorous legal action against them. It has to be remembered that SWB still own about 30 unsold properties, and I would have thought that [as much as anything to preserve the value of the unsold units], they would be leading action against the non payers.

3) I think I am right in saying that an owners/residents association [if that's what we're talking about] is a formal body with legal status in NC. What I am not clear about is how or whether this will enable the existing problem to be resolved. We know that the formation of a body has been researched by the very people we are talking about. TBC

3) [continued] Although I object strongly to what I believe are their aims, and their tactics, I cannot knock them for their thoroughness and preparation. They have the time and dedication to research matters in great detail and are very singleminded.

4) Where I do agree with them is that the costs of running/maintaining the site should be subject to review. I believe in order to keep costs down, RMS will staff this internally by employing staff on the service chharge accounts. For each of the main "activities" [i.e. running the pools, maintaining the grounds], three independent outside quotes should be obtained to confirm that by staffing it "ourselves" we are getting good value. To be honest, if work was subcontracted out there would be more scope for us to be defrauded, and no audit could reasonably spot it, [despite what some "experts" might say].

5) I don't want to set myself up as "The Mayor of Sweetwater Bay", and I'm sure Rocky also has no ambitions in that direction. TBC

5) [continued] In fact, we already appear to have enough candidates!! There is a very great danger that Rocky and I could be just as unrepresentative as those I criticise. I agree that [if possible] action is taken against the non payers, otherwise chaos will ensue. However we must not forget that SWB have a huge stake in this and I think it is necessary for them to "step up to the plate", by either themselves or through pressure on RMS, take action for recovery. If people know that if they don't pay the rightful management charges they'll be sued, they'll soon tow the line.

6) Individual owners have the right to complain to RMS about aspects of running the site. If they don't receive satisfaction, it is open to them to bring this to the attention of a wider audience. I think however it is clear from AndyF that complaints about the pool, particularly by our Shakespearean expert, are perhaps exaggerated. People need to ask themselves why it was "broadcast" in such a way. TBC

[continued]

7) I would be happy to visit NC with Rocky [it would give us the chance to catch up with Julia Roberts and Jenny Agutter] to investigate the issues, but I first think we need a response from SWB [particularly Yoav], and perhaps can then consider whether a visit would have any value. I know Sheila [Mint] has a number of e-mail addresses, and perhaps [once we have the SWB view], she could e-mail to ask them if they want Rocky and me to visit [at our own expense].

8) One thing I have forgotten to mention is that, despite the almost constant carping and criticism [and at times insults] they have received from certain quarters, the actions of Andy, Connie and Mike [and not forgetting Edith] have shone through, and there is report after report of how they have bent over backwards to help. You won't get a medal, but perhaps I'll buy you a few Efes.

Hi all,

I agree we need to look at doing something. Mike has always said that he wants to work with an owners group, no money is needed at this stage as its more to do with a voice of the owners working with Mike and vice versa on owners requests and suggestions or issues onsite i.e. dealing with the non payment of fees, basic guidelines etc

An owners association to actually run the site is a whole different matter which has many legal implications and has to be formally setup and registered with the Council of Ministers in Kyrenia.

As we have not even started our 2 years with RMS we should be looking at working with and not against them to make SWB a great place to have a home. Would love to hear anyones thoughts on having an owners representative group or just state your support or otherwise for RMS, email privately if you prefer. I will talk to Mike when we are out there next week as to how he sees an owners group working in practical terms. TBC

Cont..... Having spoken recently with other owners it is time that all owners, not just a selected few on private email lists ,are contacted about this and in the first instance we would have to request that RMS send out on our behalf (as we cannot expect to be given access to owners details) a letter of introduction so that anyone wanting information or add support could then contact us directly. It may be that the majority of owners will just want to deal with RMS on an individual basis and do not wish to be dealing with committees, minutes, arguments and pressure groups.

Arthur, I agree that the bullying and intimidation tactics of the few are unacceptable as is using the communal facilities without paying for them and I would certainly not want them to be my representative or representing the majority of owners on any site I have purchased on.

Cont..... I have been called a moron and a fool amongst other things for wanting to live on SWB with likeminded people who will all look out for each other. I still feel the same and the antagonistic email campaign of late will not change that and in fact has only served to remind me of the alternative to having Mike and RMS working for us.

If Rocky and I go with you, who do you want to "entertain" you, Brad Pitt perhaps?[please don't choose him, it will only remind me of cockney rhyming slang]. Anyway, I thought you and Jackie would be too busy "going to hell in a handcart".

It would be nice to hear the views of "the silent majority", and certainly [after you've had a few sleeps], Mike's views on how to work with and communicate with the owners. I personally wouldn't want to see a formal body, as at the end of the day RMS need to satisfy the owners that they are doing a good job. An informal body [whatever form that took] could communicate concerns to RMS and may be able to raise common issues, and thereby act as a conduit for the views of the majority. The key to this will be communication which must be two way traffic.

Anyway, no one should take my word for any of this as [and I quote] "my account is at best unreliable, at worst a pack of lies".

andy and connie aswell as being employees of SWB/rms are also owners who live on site and they have to pay maintainence so it came as no surprise hes pissed off with who ever they are.

he said hes gone upto people he didnt know using the pool and asked who they where, getting a reply that they are freinds of so and so and they said we can use it!

so and so being none payers.

it needs sortting and fast thats for sure.

Arthur believe me I am not going anywhere especially in a handcart !! (see message 22, Sweetwater Bay 8 thread,)

My partner, if Phil wasn’t around, would be a mix of Sean Connery, Billy Connolly, Eric Clapton, Bob Geldof and Richard Branson all for different reasons.

If non maintenance paying owners are inviting 'guests' to use the SWB communal facilities then they can have no conscience and are showing a distinct lack of integrity towards fellow owners.

On a positive note heard of yet another PTP being granted on SWB yesterday and that was only from April 08 so they are getting quicker.

Andy, I couldn't agree with you more, but as I have posted above, I think any action needs to be initiated by SWB [head office, it shouldn't be down to just Andy]. My view [which may not accord with others], is that guests should only be able to use the pool whilst the owner [or person renting the property] is in attendance. I equally cannot see why non payers [or their "guests"] should be using the pools and other facilities.

I'd be just repeating myself if I said any more, just go through messages 112-116.

Sheila, all I've been hearing for the last week is 'it's too heavy, that can't go, we need that, take your things out' so yes, we do have too much stuff.

We wanted to bring so much more.

The development now appears to have split into two camps, those willing to give RMS a chance and those against.

I will say publicly that I'm in the give them a chance camp, that won't change unless they prove incapable of running the place correctly or be trusted.

So far, as an infrequent visitor they seem to be doing O.K.

The problem with an owners association (not residents association) is that they do really need to be there full time. An infrequent visitor would find it difficult to be the mouthpiece of the many if they are not there fulltime.

That is not to say that any group who have put themselves forward so far would be the right choice.

Any non payer should not be using the facilities.

Guests should be there with owners/renters on site (or shopping etc.) if not, asked to leave.

loby I agree with some of your points but some are difficult to enforce. It is difficult to police who should and who should not be using the facilities cannot expect to know who all the owners are yet alone their guests/tenants. So how we can move people on who should not be there I dont know. Even worse when there are more visitors using shop/bar/restuarant I am sure the proprietors will say of course use the facilities. As for who have not paid their fees should not use the facilities again impossible to police. I am not prepared to put myself at risk in asking people have they the right to be there and if not physcially move them on. I have been through this before. Non payers is a contractual issue but if they have broken the contract we should name and shame them on the offices & in a newsletter. BUT only if they wont pay, if they cant pay due to a personal circumstance we should look for an agreement how they can reduce the debt. Been there before and I have shared this info b4

Not the sort of thing I like, but perhaps wrist bands, collectable/returmable to the office for bona fide people on site. It would also identify non paying owners.

Another possible solution would be several signs around pool and gym pointing out that the communal facilities are only for the use of people staying on site.

I believe RMS will be running the bar so I don't expect them to allow outside visitors to use the pool, gym etc. [they should be allowed to use the toilets!!!]

Loby, I don't know how many trips you've already made, but we've had four visits where we've left things [plus Sheila & Phil brought a case over for us], and we're still fully loaded for our next trip, and probably the next........

Hurrah for suction bags they are fantastic (except when they split) ! Amazingly we have got all the 'must takes' and all the 'would like to takes' in so far, now its just clothes to go and we have enough space I think. So may even be able to squeeze a couple of bits from the winter trip pile in as well

A quick round of phone calls early this week to check on furniture delivery and jacuzzi finishing and commisioning etc and we are nearly there.

Hopefully snagging list has been started but there wasnt anything much we cant live without for a couple of days.

Hi All

We've just returned from 3 weeks out there. The site is great. We've still got snagging that needs to be done and I'm sure it will be done in time - there's so many people completing right now that SWB are having to prioritise the jobs. However some people have louder voices than others and they're getting their houses worked on sooner! My tip is to not pay the £2K snagging until everything's complete.

We are in complete agreement to a residents (or owners) association. We need a democratically elected committee that will work hand-in-hand with RMS on a constructive basis - not a destructive one! That way only one person raises the issues with RMS and then one person reports back to the owners.

One issue that we have is that owners are starting to alter their apartments/villas/bungalows - this is being done before the site has had its final inspection. Edith has mentioned that the site will not get the green light for title deeds to be released tbc

if the site differs in any way to the original plans. Also, some people may make changes that affect their neighbours' view. If the owners association was to get off the ground perhaps we could have something whereby people need to seek their neighbours permission or the owners association permission before changing their property. We have had similar problems with our property in Spain and the residents association there is now taking those owners to court which is costing thousands. If we put some ground rules in place right from the start, it will stop this from happening. We certainly don't want to stop anyone from altering their property but do believe that we all need to consider each other when doing so.

We are all for RMS to run the site as long as we get clear accounts of what the money is being spent on and that we, the owners, decide on how it's spent. tbc

It is very early days for everyone involved and the current negativity is neither helpful or constructive - let's give RMS a chance to prove themselves. If the majority of us are not happy after a given period of time - then we should do something about it.

Whilst we were there, we organised a pool party for everyone to meet each other. It was well attended and it was nice for everyone to get together.

SWB is definitely the best site in NC - if we all work together we will be able to keep it that way.

Hi Marissa glad to hear you had a good time and we can't wait to be there again. SWB and RMS have been so helpful throughout our purchase and I agree its such a shame that there are a few onsite dertermined to undermine all their hard work. Pool party sounds fun

When it's installed, check that you have BBC World and Fox movies. You should have 500 channels (mostly flip flop TV) altogether. Check this before the guys leave - we only had 200 channels and of those only two or three English channels - then had to wait several days for them to come back out to have a look at it. It turned out that we had the wrong cable installed in the apartment so they changed it without charge.

Sorry Rocky, I ran out of letters so I couldn't expand on some of the things I wanted to say. Anybody who shouldn't be there should be asked by RMS to leave not by the owners. You're right it could get physical with some people but that's why we pay our management fee's, so they do the 'dirty' work.

Arthur, wrist bands for owners -no ,but maybe an idea for owners guests. Owners will eventually get known, so maybe an idea worth exploring.I will have made three trips so far and one more in October, we have been overloaded with goods every time and that doesn't look like changing for future trips.

I think my wife thinks we are going up the Amazon thats not got any shops. She's good though because it saves me money that I would probably waste.

It's nice to hear about the pool party because with all the negativity you start to think everybodies walking around with long faces and nobodies talking to each other.

Sheila,I've just brought the cases downstairs, I dont think I can carry them

Lobylud, far from the long faces - everyone who was there whilst we were there were more than happy - yeah there were a few issues with t-shirts/hair going green and ear infections but this isn't restricted to SWB it was happening at other sites in NC but it certainly didn't ruin anybody's holiday. In fact, some of the people who had ear infections and green hair/t-shirts still used the pool. I had my hair bleached the day before our holiday (I know, not very sensible) so I am surprised that my hair didn't turn green and I was in the pool on a daily basis - obviously just lucky!

Andy, it was great to meet you, Sue and Alex and I can't wait for us all to get together again either in NC or back in the UK if we move back next year - hopefully it will be sooner rather than later though. You guys made our holiday and we missed you all when you left. Any chance you can make it for the New Year? It doesn't look as though I'll be out in October - Alison's off to Florida then!

So Sheila, just a couple more sleeps. Don't worry about the jacuzzi- I'll make it work for you, with or without electricity.

Andy, it sounds like Kurt does my trick of walking into the sliding doors. I at least have two genuine excuses:

1) I have restricted sight in my right eye

2) err............might be rat arsed

Glad to hear such positive feedback from the recent visitors

Hi all,

We need Ferret the handyman !!!!! washing machine decided to no longer spin, and Phil is no longer allowed to do DIY since he put a drill through the cable to the boiler thus meaning no hot water!!!!!!! so we have 3 wall cupboards to go up still, oh and we have to fill the hole that the electrician had to make when fixing cable etc.

Add to that one cat having to be taken for emergency treatment to the PDSA and costing a few bob to sort out and my computer not working properly we can't wait to get away.

But apparently the jacuzzi is commissioned and awaiting us

I will ignore that remark and just say that if that is not the case re hiring out the tennis court all you have to say , just need to pass it on as we were told this info via our forum , one of our owners popped into your complex and asked and this is what he was told .

Phil Shiela have a great trip please pop in my place I have confirmed ok with Connie. I think if the tennis court is rented out it should be a commercial rate and the complex should benefit and it may well supplement some of the none payments! However it will be difficult for owners who decide they want to play and find someone has rented it for two hours. On balance I would be against renting it out the income would be minimal and the inconveninece for the owners unacceptable. The net could get damaged and left too tight or not stowed correctly. Arthur I may be car less at the weekend may visit you with a cheque is that ok next week!! Andy please share with me your knowledge on this TV system you have set up, do you have to pay a monthly subscription? Also Andy the fly screens?? would be interested in your quote. The trouble is with the villas there are several patio doors so I guess is only sensible to di the bedrooms on a cost basis.

Andy- I reckon they saw you coming, just like AF when he bought Juan Sebastian Veron. BTW, [and I'm making the most of it cos it won't last], we're still above you in the Premiership !!!

Mint, we're flying from Manchester to Ercan on 27 December. When do you get there and how long are you there for? We come back on Sunday 3 January so plenty of time for a few parties!

with a rod that long I would have had to go to the other side of the pond in Suffolk to put the bait on the hook. Presumbly you use a line and hook and or do you have a sharp point and stab the fish. I swapped my fishing rod (5feet fibreglass) for a US parka in my lambretta days. My first house only cost a few hundred more than your rod Andy I think I will start an angling shop and make loadsa money.

Andy,-if Berbatov was half as good as he thinks he is, he'd be walking on water in his spare time.

Is Susan impressed by your 17 metre [3 grand] rod ?? - probably been too busy looking at your 22" equipment !!! I had no idea this fishing lark was so expensive. Wouldn't it be cheaper [and save time], simply to go down the fishmongers???

Arthur according to andy's mates he never catches anything..the fishmongers is an excellent idea he could also try Iceland freezer centre. I dont think these guys really go fishing they just tell their wives that, Really these long rods are receivers for the dutch prawn channels they watch mini tv screens and put no bait on their hooks.

But how do they get the authentic fishy smell ?? I've got a clue, but then I've seen some of the Iceland adverts on TV

No reports from Sheila & Phil, perhaps the green hair is a bit difficult to cope with.

I'm sure Andy has cheered up with Man U's win at Wigan, but has he caught any fish?

Hi all,

Glad to hear everyones positive feedbacks from their trips and peoaple moving into swb!

Site looks fab ashame I had to pull out due to credit crunch and all that like a few others unfortunately.

But will visit soon for a hols for definate.

Just came back from a 2 week hols in the US and mexico which was amazing- oh well back to reality now- heaps of washing to keep me busy all week.........zzz.

Thanks for reminding me about the facebook site I set it up ages ago and forgot all about it.

I only visit it about once a month at most??

But it would be great to owners chatting etc?

Anyway keep smiling and DONT rise to the bait of others!!

Andy-F: I've uploaded the photos to Snapfish. Let me know your email address so I can send you the videos - not sure whether I can upload those to snapfish and as my internet connection at home is crap I can only upload from work which is why I've only just got around to doing the photos!

Alison: That's on a Sunday!

All: Anyone up for a fancy dress party on New Years' Eve at SWB?

d I notice you blame the credit crunch for pulling out of SWB yet expensive holidays in the USA are still affordable I think you lost your nerve with all the land issues and the fact you might get green hair. The green hair, well I dont care what colour it is if I can get some more hair I will go to SWB more frequently. Met J and A today and I am sure Andys rod could reach the Thames estauary from their abode.

Hi all,

With regards to land issues this was never an issue as I amongst most diligent others were fully aware of the risks 3 years ago when I bought .

If I was in doubt then I would not have bought from the outset ...as simple as.

As for green hair this wasnt a problem last year when I pulled out.

Also I will not sacrifice my holiday for nothing otherwise 6 weeks with the kids at home would drive me nuts!

Anyway there are great deals to the US and mexico right now and especially as the dollars got stronger again its even better!

As for fishing rods Ill leave that to the boys and their toys!!!

Some info please:

Hello all, this may have been covered before, but I am going out to complete next week and will be arranging my Electricity connection whilst out there. I have been told I need a copy of my Contract (which I have), but that this needs to be have the 'Stamp Duty Stamp' on it (which my contract does not have).

Did anyone else have this problem, and if so, where do you obtain the Stamp Duty Stamp (which I have paid).

By the way, I am out there (staying with Friends) between 30/08 and 05/09, so hopefully may get to meet a few of you and put some names to faces.

Many thanks

Actually its not uncommon for blonde hair to turn green if you swim a lot and the pools chemical balance is incorrect proabably due to using well water (which is used in TRNC) for filling pools, your pool may have been out of blance and now is ok that is why sometimes it happens and other times it doesn't.!

, but it can happen just becasue it didnt happen to you doesnt mean it hasn't happend or wont happen in teh future - if your pool maintenacne company are keeping the correct balance of the pool you shoudl be ok .

Kell,

Your contract should have the stamp duty receipt on it, we didn't get a separate document. We have just been over and sorted out our elecy ourselves - it was dead easy. We just warned off the lawyer before we went that we wanted to collect the contract for Kibtec, he gave it to us and then we went to Kibtec with our passports and Turkish Lira for the deposit. We wrote down "Electricity Meter required for ..." the apartment number and block number (not 103PL but Apt 3 Block 103, Sweetwater Bay) as this is what they will go off.

When you go into Kibtec go to the desk on the left hand side and hand in the note and the contract; they will then tell you to go upstairs (go back out of the building and then next door - this is upstairs); they will then do something on a computer and then you will be sent back down back to that desk. It took us 20 minutes for everything. Our meter was installed in just under a week.

Hope this helps. Have a good time.

Sam, do you still want the details of my keyholder? She's really good - already proving her worth - had an email yesterday and she's updated me on what snagging has been done since we left! Let me have your email address and I will email you with her details, etc.

hi marisa hope you and kurt are well.

re the key holder, as you know we also use the same person and we have just had e-mail of her today , shes took photos of the step being built from our patio by ferrit and also told us we have a smell coming from our freezer ( seems like some sweet substance like leftover part of a ice lolly) so shes cleaning it for us . like you said shes excellent and we are glad we took up her services.

when are you back out? we have just booked for the half term holls (oct 25th one week)

Hello all!! Finally got round to checking out emails etc and looking at C44 after 5 fab weeks at SWB - it was lovely to meet you all (some of you anyway) and put faces to names.... sadly my daughter's hair turned green (still has a slight tint) - during our last weeks there - change of pool product & her hair very porus as its almost white blonde - my dad's white hair also changed colour along with some of their clothes but I have to say that this didnt stop their fun - they just avoided the problem pool whilst it was being cleaned. Thanks for the tv info Andy - we got NileSat installed - but Ive got another number for one off payment for sky/english tv (sport, bbc tv etc) - left it over there but can get off a friend who lives near Alye's shop if anyone interested - ran out of cash this time but maybe in the winter? Furniture finally arrived 3 weeks late but got to stay in our 'home' for nearly two weeks and loved every minute - even started planting the garden and my 'pebble/rock'

Andy, speaking for myself and Rocky who only get near to your sport from a trip down the fishmongers, are you suggesting that something unexplainable or dare I say fishy was going on?

Does "Ronaldo" do simulation better than your ex-employee Christiano? or has he graduated to the Eduardo level?

Arthur you will get your 5th star at 1000 postings. You will note that several members have 5 stars they are awarded for number of postings (rather than quality.) They are certainly not awarded for excellent spelling and gramma!!
