A beautiful young golden retriever type dog has turned up at an apartment block in Lapta, very pretty and incredibly sweet and friendly. He/She seems to have taken up residence in the stairwell of the apartments and needs a loving home asap or perhaps with any luck he belongs to someone who is missing him. If you would be interested in giving him a home please call me for details.

I would love to give him a home but have 2 already who dont welcome others.

Back to the top please, I am so worried about this dog as it couldnt be in a worse area for poisonings, near the Sempati hotel, where several of my friends animals have been poisoned in the past (near hotel not at hotel!). I hope that it is just lost and that someone will know of a missing pet. Young, looks like a golden retriever only slightly smaller and a longer nose.

Many thanks

Could you e-mail us please. From the desciption of this dog, it sounds remarkably like one who turned up at our apartments (Alsancak) when we were over a few weeks ago. Everyone who was there at the time fell in love with it, we fed it, watered it and generally made a huge fuss of it. Unfortunately, it started to do its 'business' in the gardens and next thing we knew, it 'had been found a good home' and driven off in the plumber's van! We weren't at the apartment at the time, because we would have wanted more information about where this 'good home' happened to be. It's quite possible that the dog was just driven down the road and dumped. It did not look anything like a stray, but had no collar on. If you could e-mail, we will e-mail you a photograph of him.

With thanks.

Well I went back to see the dog today and it turns out that its a female and she is heavily pregnant...had only seen her in the dark before. She is beautiful and so sweet natured but I guess this narrows her chances of being rehomed even further now.

If any one is interested in taking on this lovely dog please call me on 0533 845 0962 for details.

Thanks so much

Back to the top, I fear that time is running out for this beautiful dog as the people who own apartments in this block will be arriving on Monday and I know that they will evict her. Is anyone able to offer her a home...she is a lovely sweet natured golden retriever who needs a loving home.

Many thanks

Hi Liili, I called KAR and they cant take her as they had 15 dogs dumped on them over the weekend apparently. The lady took my number and said she would put the dog on the board and they would do what they can but I dont hold out much hope to be honest. 2 owners of the apartments in the block are coming and I am certain they will evict her and close the door so that she cant get back in. I am so worried about her if anyone can help, give this lovely dog a home I would really appreciate it.

Many thanks

Thanks Lilli, I pray that the lovely couple might be able to take her...she is just so sweet natured and in need of a good home. I have emailed the apartment owners and asked them to give me a couple of days, but time really is running out and I cant bare the idea of this poor dog trying to find somewhere else to have her babies where she feels safe, at this late stage.

Please if there is anyone out there who can take her call me on 0533 845 0962.

Thanks

No none, I am worried about her...she has a nasty eye infection, I cleaned them up last night, but I just wish I could do more for her...husband had forbidden me from bringing her home!

She is just the sweetest dog, so happy to see me every day, I have never heard her bark, she just needs a loving home. I would so love to take her, but my little jack russell stray wouldnt accept her and I am worried it would just be more stressful for her with her puppies being at my house with my dog constantly going at her.

Can anyone help please.

Hi guys, I had a call back from the KAR this afternoon and it seems that as long as they dont have any emergencies before hand, they will be collecting the dog on Friday morning. Part of me is relieved and I am of course very grateful to KAR, but the other part of me is just so sad that I couldnt find her a loving home in time. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if anyone is prepared to offer this dog a home then I would be very happy to hear from you before friday. 0533 845 0962.

Many thanks

Karen

No Lilli, no offers of a home for her sadly, looks like it will be KAR for her, I only hope that she gets to keep her pups and that she isnt returned to the area after shes had them.

Thanks for your support Lilli, it means a lot. What more can we do tho?

Hiya..Tinkie i think if KAR do help they will put them back to your place soon after anyway.and guess you have been feeding..as one would.so my guess is they will say that is the place for them to fend for themselves and find food..

so sorry you have had no luck...Its very difficult to be hard..in that situation, and when a stray just wont leave you alone..once again good luck..

I know what you are saying Spider, I dont actually live near the apartments, a friend of mine has one there and she is away so I have been feeding her cat etc. I am thinking should I just bite the bullet and take her in but how stressfull would it be for her living here with us, with 2 dogs that wont take to her for ages...I know for a fact thats how they will be. Also my yappy stray was poisoned right outside our gate a couple years ago, when people didnt know her too well and she kept getting through the gate and attracting other strays (thankfully she survived and the other strays stopped coming eventually), I am worried that if she is the sort of dog who takes herself off then she will annoy the neighbours and the same thing will happen to her. We are at work all day and live in a rented house so its far from ideal. I think that I just have to let KAR do what they can for her, its heart breaking isnt it.

Thanks Lilli, I think that I will have to let KAR take her, but I will ask them to contact me first if they are going to neuter and release her as I cant bare the thought of her going back to the area of many past poisonings. I feel terrible about letting KAR take her, but my husband is set against us having another dog, esp one so heavily pregnant.

This is a last plea to anyone who may be able to give her a good home as KAR are due to collect her this morning.

tinkie,

if she is about to give birth then she is probably better off going to kar where she can be cared for.

i'm sure they won't part her from her pups until the time is right, and it is probably the safest place for her right now.

Update: Not a great day today...KAR did come to collect her as they promised, and took her straight to the vet for an assessment. They called me to say it wasnt good news that they thought she may have leishmaniasis and that they would test her today, if it came back positive then they would put her to sleep as that is the understandable policy for dogs with this terrible disease, for their protection, and of course because they are carriers. Any way this afternoon I was called back with the confirmation that she does indeed have it. I am not to bothered by this to be honest as my own dog, who came over with us from UK has it and although there is no cure, with the help of our wonderful vet Firdez and the right medictaion she is coping well. So I asked KAR if they really had to put her down,or if I offered to take her would it save her. they said that whatever happens the pups will be put down, but they if I decide to take her I can...now I have to decide and to talk hubby round!

Tinkie - very bad news as far as the parasitic disease is concerned, but better for the pups in the long run I think, otherwise another lot of unwanted dogs to try to re-home.

Do you think you'll be able to persuade hubby to keep the Mum?

Spider - it's an awful disease, picked up from sandflies, I believe.

Tinkie - good luck and I admire you for trying so very hard on this.

Best wishes.

Thanks Spider and Jean.

Spider fingers crossed that Lucky will get on with the others and live happily ever after in new home. x

Jean I agree on the pups, just hope I can talk my husband in to letting me keep her!

Leishmaniasis is horrible Spider it attacks the dogs internal organs, joints etc. My 10 yr old dog has it, her symptoms were incontinence, sores on her ears and stiff joints which to be honest we just out down to her age, since she has been diagnosed and put on medication, the incontinence has stopped, the sores cleared up and the joints much less painful. Its no cure, but with the right balance of medication the disease can be managed. I think eventually the parasite will win, but not with out a battle!

Thanks all for your support on this thread, watch this space...!!

Husband has finally agreed...she will have to be an outside dog, but Im sure it will work out. Just have to speak to KAR in the morning now. Thanks everyone for your support, hopefully it wont be too long before she is home with us, will keep you posted.
