does anyone know if the local channel

permanently stopped airing the two english language films

every night? suppose could be to do with cost

they stll relay cnn overnight...



as an alternative to digiturk

you can get a dish supplier to install a cheap dish for

hotbird, about 90cm required, tektan and many other firms

can do it...

pick up a receiver box from someone like satellite superstore

or brymar in the uk

you can now receive 1600 tv and 400 radio channels



if you want bbc prime you'll need a receiver that takes their card

and the sub is £88 pa plus vat

although it seems you must not let the card fall out of use

or the bbc cut you off after a couple of months

there are various other encoded channels



free to air includes programmes in french italian russian etc etc etc

as well as bbc world:

the radio line up includes national public radio of usa,

bbc world service and the excellant light classical channel france vivace

welcome to the forum

you are correct about the cost of the english movies, you dont have to pay any money for bbc prime on hotbird if you can pick up a receiver namely next - goldmaster with the latest software installed you will receive bbc prime aswell as tcm movie channel, cnn and a whole load of french channels which you can change the audio to english so you are not restriceted to watching the fta garbage on hotbird another alternaive would be turksat where you can receive cnbce - e2 - buisness channel and new station tnt aswell as mtv and bbc world, and another alternative would be pointing a dish at nilesat which has great channels like dubai one, mbc 2,3,4 and action aswell as mtv and bbc world all fta

Another package is D-Smart for one off payment for digibox and dish. It has a couple of dedicated movie channels (mostly English), Animal Planet, Discovery Civilisation & Science, TNT (movies, American series), CNN, Al Jazeera English, CNBCe, e2, Business Channel (English movies in the evenings), Fox and TV8 for Premiership and other football (Turkish commentary).

hi

even thou d-smart is another alternative i would not reconmend this package i will tell you why like what jo has said its just a one off payment for the box but the price of the box is double what a normal box costs from 300-350ytl add the dish price and install price, secondly you only actually recieve a extra 8 channels with dsmart because cnn,aljazeera,cnbce,e2, buisness channel,fox and tv8 and mtv and cartoon network and tnt are all fta (which means you can watch for free), another thing you still have to sign a contract and at the back of the contract in small letters in turkish it says they have the right to charge the customer a monthly fee whenever they want as long as they give the customer a months notice and another thing to add to this d-smart did not obtain the permission from any of the discovery channels to put their channels on their platform and at the moment it is getting disputed so in the near future these channels will be payable

just thought i would let you know

is it a hard disk based device like dreambox?

the goldmaster and the next receivers are not hard disk devices and are nothig like the dreambox because the dreambox you have to connect to the internet and pay a yearly fee for the server to unlock most of the channels on hotbird, where the goldmaster and next boxes all you have to do is download the newest software for the machine and they unlock bbc prime and tcm and all the tps channels aswell as mtv and a few others, i have provided a link to all the channels you can get including bbc prime
