I've been using Skype with PC speakers and webcam,

Piranha with built in microphone for over a year,

good sound both ways, to landlines, mobiles and PC's.

No use if you want a private conversation though :-(

I have been using a Linksys CIT200 cordless Skype phone for nearly two years now and although you have to leave your computer on all the time (upstairs in my study) the phone and base is downstairs and we use it as a normal cordless phone both inside and outside of our villa. Excellent quality and soon I will be looking at buying another Linksys phone that will plug into a wireless router so that my computer can have a bit of a rest.

As Nick and Adagirl have done their deal, I just want to say that in the UK we are SKYPE / 3 mobile converts.. I bought one over a month ago, and now all the family have one... free SKYPE to SKYPE calls from the mobile AND we can use chat and SKYPE out - so can dial any SKYPE user ANYWHERE for free from anywhere in the UK ;)



No need to keep the computer one, but if you do, it rings the computer and the mobile simultaneously, or you can make concurrent calls



Apart from having broadband - the point of having a land line is getting less by the day !

I have the same phone - been great (I'm using XP).

Beware though, my daughter also had the same phone, but when she upgraded to Vista it refused to work - seems that Vista is refusing to support this (High quality) phone!

Also, I have just upgraded to the latest version of Skype - still works well for voice but cannot get it to work properly for video - no problem for me but maybe for some people.

Thanks for the info, I am running XP also. Me upgrade? 'If it aint broke I ain't going to fix it' Skype works well for me (video as well) so I am going to leave things as they are.
