Can anybody please advise what is recent procedure when going for 2nd year of residency. Would be useful if anybody who has just done the same could let me know. Don't believe you need to get blood tests done again?? so is it muhtars letter, ins and outs, contract and bank details just needed??

Also if residency was to expire say next month, could we go out of the country before it expired and then when return have another 90 days to renew ?? or the fact that we had residency mean it must be renewed and be ongoing?

Would appreciate some facts and not just speculation on this.

Many thanks

Amber. No medical or blood tests are required.

Muhtars letter, photo copies of passport, copy of house sale contract or rent book, photo copy of residency booklet ( Pink book ), bank statements, yearly tax receipt if you pay it and they may ask for photo graphs.

Go to the police station about three weeks prior to your current residency running ( this depends on how busy they are ) out and they will then tell you to pick up the new one in about ten days time in Nicosia.

When you fetch them from Nicosia along with your money take some stamps to the value six or seven tl

All of the above may change at a minutes notice. I have had six and the rules and cost were never the same for any two.

Many thanks Carndi,

Any idea how much a renewal currently costs?? I was told it was not as much as the first application - but then again who knows !!

Also read on here that blood test were needed again, but like you say things do change at a minutes notice.

Did my renewal 3 weeks ago and you need copy of contract, copy of bank statement, copy of relevant passport pages and original muhtar letter. You don't need a copy of your pink book you just give the original to the police and then you get it back when you collect your residency and you don't need photos. The stamps cost 6.8TL and you can buy them at the cafe at the immigration in Lefkosa (for 7.5TL). Be aware though that they are very busy and we went to collect ours last week after 3 weeks and they said they hadn't received our paperwork from Kyrenia police station and that we should go to the police station to collect it. We went to the police station and they said that immigration were lying because they were busy so we have decided to wait a few more weeks before going again. If you do go make sure you get to Lefkosa by about 7.30am at the latest to get your name on the list to be sure of getting served. As far as I know the renewal cost 175TL per person.

Continued

We went to Turkey for 5 days and returned the day after our residency ran out. We checked with the police before we went and also the Immigration police at the airport and they both said it wasn't a problem. When we arrived back at Ercan they just gave us a 90 day stamp but they also said we should sort out the residency within 7 days. The police however said it wasn't a problem so who knows!
