Good point can't see TRNC giving up the income and the major draw for Turkish visitors/ tourists.

Also, have you seen the GC cars coming over here to visit the casinos - not sure they would want that to stop either.

hi guys

even if unification does happen which i doubt it will, not for a long time if it does!!!! the casino trade will not stop to much money has been invested into it by turks from turkey, russians and jews and like what livingthedream said just as many greeks from the south visit the casino's compared to turks from turkey, corupt or not corupt it brings in many millions of extra revenue and also provides thousands of jobs so i doubt it will be abolished just like that

yes uk turk , i agree , and unification is very unlikely , since greek cypriots stance has always been they are the sole rightful govenors for the whole island, a greek island , which we would be a miniroty citizen of , cypriots will never bow to that , casinos are here to stay , unless ofcourse the closure comes from pro islamic influences within our own governments ( future ones perhaps ) like it happened in turkey and was banned

hi majik

even thou due to pro islamic laws they outlawed casino's in turkey, all turks including all buisness men and politicans go over to cyprus for the weekend to play in the casino's and gambling still has not been outlawed in turkey we still have idaa (football) which is still a form of gambling and tjk which is the horse racing and milli bingo so you could never get rid of gambling in the turkish society

UKT

u r great mate this was whot I was trying to put over, there wont be a unification i dont think , more of a settlement with two fedaral states as there is 2 much money at steak so let the settlement be decided by the goverments giving everybody who lost out some compensation and we can move on as neighbors but we know the most GC's dont want 2 live with us do they ?

uk turk ,u forget gamling is a new phenonemnon for turks , and they have been indulging only since the last 80 yrs , prior to that turkish society didnt gamble for a 1000 yrs , selcuks , ottomans did not gamble , so dont say u can never get rid of it , it was not there for 90 % of their history and is on the decline nowadays among turks, anyways how come u advise so much about cyprus when u live in turkey ?? ha ? come and buy here then chat ...lol

majik

as you are new to this forum, i will excuse you from your comments!!!!!

let me enlighten you on some facts, i am a turkish cypriot all my family are from magusa, iskelle (skele before 1960 which is larnaca now on the greek side) girne and lefkara i have spent most of my life in kibris and the last eight years i spent most of the year between turkey and kibris, i do have houses in yeni bogazici, iskele and land in catalkoy my uncle owns one of the biggest construction companies in kibris (not going to name drop) so that gives me the right to advise as much as i want on my motherland dont you think???

you seem to forget since 1922 the turkish republic was formed turkish people were called turks and before that the hun empire our ancestors were called huns then the byzantine empire we were called seljuks and then the ottoman empire we were called ottomans so us as a turkish republic race for the last 86 years have been indulging in gambling so it is not exactly new to us as turks and its only since the sharia law was passed not so long ago by turkeys exsisting pro islamic party namely the ak party which outlawed gambling but online gambling was still ok until 2006 and like i said you still have idaa (a big thing amonst turkish men and not in decline) you place your money down on a result of a football game and you win money, tjk you also place your money on a result of a horse race and you win money and finally milli bingo so i dont know what your interpretaion of gambling is but in my eyes this is still gambling so thats why i said you will never outlaw gambling in turkey and until you buy a house or live in turkey then you can chat on what and how gambling is still used among turks

also i dont understand your point in your post what are you getting at im just simply saying you will never get rid of gambling in turkey, if you are going to outlaw gambling in turkey why not get rid of the other gambling methods we have here ill tell you why because the government receive extra revenue in the form of taxes from these companies and why banish casinos to kibris when most of the casino's are owned by turks from turkey!!!! LOL

UKTURK

p.s like you said all in good fun!!!!

ok uk turk , lets leave it here , it seems i could debate with u for hours as theres serious flaws in some of ur history , which i wont go into for the sake of keeping this forum free from historical debate , but just want to point out that the use of and identification of the word turk and turkish , goes back to chinese records and the orkhon scriptures of 685 ad which is when the term turks was first used for the gokturk empire , so at the time of the huns we were huns but since the gokturk empire we were turks , anywyas im going on again , lets leave it , mayb one day in yeni boazici iskele catalkoy or hedge lane or wherever , we will have a chance to meet and discuss this together in person , best regards tommy

hi tommy

in actual fact my friend, where are my flaws did we not start from the huns upto the 11th century also incorprating the gökturks then upto the 14th century the seljuk turks were in power then after that the ottoman empire upto 1921 i could have gone on a long essay about our history from our nomadic history of the huns to the gökturks and yes the word turk was first used by the chinese to describe the huns in the 3rd century, but we are actually talking about turkish people who call themselves turkish from a republican state which is only 86 years old and since that time the turkish people have been gambling

well enough about the history debate, like i said you will never stamp out gambling because where there is supply there is demand and like you said maybe one day we will have the chance to meet to discuss such topics either it be in london (i doubt it lol) cyprus or even turkey

warm regards

ukturk
