| I noticed what looked like sawdust under one of my Melia trees, sometimes called Chinaberry, Indian bead tree or Persian Lilac. I have two, and it is the one on the East side of the house. When I investigated further I could see the branches riddled with holes. They are about a quarter of an inch wide, and in all the branches. It looks as if someone has drilled holes at regular intervals all over the tree. Could this be caused by the cicadas, or if not what could it be? Is the damage likely to lead to the tree falling? The gas tank is located nearby!!!! Any Botanist or Entomologist amongst us? |
